Pistons have enough cap space to take on Simons in exhange for Tim Hardaway's expiring. They could pair him with Cade Cunningham in the backcourt.

Hardaway starts at SF; Ivey starts at SG. They wouldn't be that interested in Simons, IMO
Pacers and Philly are both complete shit shows.
Rock and a hard place. They either go all in or blow it all up. What would it take to get them to give up McCain? Maxey will be back soon enoughEven after Philly nailed the draft with McCain.
if I’m being honest I don’t want to trade him at all! That said, I don’t have his medical records so I don’t know if he’s just been injury prone or if he’s got BRoy knees. Makes it easier for me to say I wouldn’t take less than a good 1st rounder for him because I don’t want him gone even then I’d be upset because I love his game. Maybe best big we’ve had in last 20 plus years.
They're already doing a 3 guard lineup. Hardaway averages 1.6 rebounds per game, and is old and probably not in their long term plans. I of course, have no idea who wants Simons, but I think we could find a team to take him in exchange for expirings.Hardaway starts at SF; Ivey starts at SG. I'm not sure what "having BRoy knees" means. After the trade that brought RWIII to Portland, there were several reports that he actually does have BRoy knees and it is just a matter of time until he is washed. I didn't see the reports, nor am I a doctor, so I do not know. He has also been unlucky with non-knee injuries too. With the emergence of Clingan I would move RWIII if a decent return could be had. He is a free agent at the same time as Simons and Ayton. Get any value possible.
Yeah decent idea - I'd think we can let them keep Russell though. Also give them the worst of our PDX/BOS/MIL pick so technically 2029 they are only giving us a swap. Both those changes make the trade more likey from the Lakers end. I kind of think the Lakers as well as any team that is interested in trading for Timelord would prefer to do it close to the February deadline just to get a longer track record of him playing healthy.View attachment 67869
The Lakers didn't want to give up 2 picks for just Grant, but maybe they will for RW3 + Grant.
We get out of Grant's contract. Vanderbuilt is a player Cronin was interested in before, and he's on a very reasonable contract. He'd could be our backup Center...
Why the hell to the Hawks do thatRoster after both those trades
Banton Scoot Russell Vincent
Sharpe Murrahy
Camara Rupert
Avdija Nance
Clingan Capela Vanderbilt
Gain 2029 swap
Gain 2031 pick
cut Walker, Hood-Schifino.
Try to shop Nance, Capela, Russell up to the 2025 deadline. Ruseell, Nance, Capela, Simmons deals all expire so they can be bought out if need be.
Clear massive salaries off the 2025 cap (over ~$115 million!) while only adding Vincent 11million expiring and Vanderbilt 11 million
Use 2025 cap space to add picks with another team overpaid vets or to sign vet on a huge one year deal, etc.
Yes please! And then we can move either Grant or Ingram, whoever brings back the best deal. The Pels need a center. They are also out of the Ingram business after failing to extend or trade him this off-season.
Ingram + CJ + 2029 FRP for DA + Ant works under the trade machine. Gets them a center, opens time for TM, Herb Jones and they have a cheaper, younger CJ replacement in Ant to be a floor spacer for Zion, relief PG until DM comes back.
If we are just talking about being out of the Ingram business and finding a replacement at a more reasonable price you can do
Ingram + CJ + 2o29 FRP for JG + Ant + Tisse works
I get a feeling we're going to trade Avidja at the deadline.
I know if doesn't make sense from a contract standpoint and what we gave up to get him, but we don't play the guy and he's not producing the way I would think they envisioned. It just doesn't feel like he fits. I like his game, but Chauncey doesn't seem to value him, playing him 23 minutes per game after giving up a starter, 2 1R picks and a 2R for him. I'm not seeing where he's getting minutes.
I’d much rather trade Grant; he’s already hit his ceiling.I think his style of play fits. The problem for him is Camara is playing well. If they trade Grant though...... Deni would start.
I gotta know: are Ayton and Ant pulling a Marcus Camby and Raymond Felton, or are they really hurt?
I’d trade them too! They didn’t do shit out there tonight! Both are on the trade block.
As you say we gave up two lottery picks for him, I highly doubt Cronin is going to give him just half a season then cash out. Deni won't return much of anything in a trade right now. Cronin will want to see if he bounces back and regains a lot of his value.I get a feeling we're going to trade Avidja at the deadline.
