Why is Jake in the doghouse anyway?? did he sleep with someone's girlfriend?
It's not his fault he's a handsome dude...

He's not played well lately...I don't understand why but he's been a liability on both sides of the court in spot minutes...Stotts pulled him right after he ignored a pass in the paint that sailed out of bounds....he can't guard PG either. Jake seems to play best off ET handling the point....ET hasn't played well...domino effect maybe? He may get another chance to stay on the court but I doubt it at this point unless Hood just plays really poorly

He should play

BTW, I still think Stotts should have left Hood in after he made a three, even though he then picked up his fourth foul. Would be very unconventional, but we need a confident Hood in this series. That was the first time in the series I saw Hood shoot a three with no hesitation.

Agreed. Should have left him in. We had nobody else going and needed a bench player to step up.

Turner has the reputation as a good, solid veteran, but he isn't one (well, apart from being veteran). He's paid like he brings Iguodala-level defense and play-making. I really wish the Blazers would recognize that Turner's a sunk cost and stop wasting minutes playing him. He's capable of a good game here and there, as is anyone in the NBA, but on average he's a really poor player--exactly the sort that should be cut out of playoff rotations.

Play Curry and Layman instead

Jake can't Guard PG. Jake is not good on defense, and is very suspect on offense. Not sure why he should play. I am fine with Seth playing more, but Jake does't warrant any minutes, besides in garbage time.

Oh look, the guy who argues for ET LOL.

Oh look it is the guy who thinks Jake is worth 10-12 a year LOL
Neither ET or Jake to me deserve playoff minutes, unless for some crazy reason they need them for a particular match up or foul trouble. Had their moments in the regular season.

I still think that Jake might be good against OKC

Against the Thunder....on the road. Stotts has been anti-Jake for a good part of the season for one reason or another no matter how productive and efficient he has been. Given that Turner has been TURRBLE and Hood not much better, I just don't get it.

How do you guys feel about sitting Dame to start the 4th? Seemed like he never got his groove back. I get giving him a rest, but I think unless Dame asks out you should ride him until they stop it.
Obviously last game was not this time BUT.........

I've been questioning Stotts a lot on keeping Dame in the game the entire 3rd quarter and sitting him at the beginning of the 4th. Even if Dame isn't having a good 3rd quarter, Stotts still leaves him in the whole quarter. I've felt like there have been several times where I find myself thinking with 2-3 minutes left in the 3rd that it would be a good time for Dame to sub out and take his rest then instead of "wasting" those minutes. There has also been games when CJ has it going but still subs out at his normal time too. I wonder sometimes if it would be better to flip that and have Dame sub out earlier in the 3rd and play the whole 4th instead.

OKC does that with George. They sub him out early in the 1st and 3rd so that he comes back in and plays against the 2nd unit of the opposing team in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. It might be something to consider, that is when Dame isn't scoring 25 points in a quarter, lol.

The real solution is for our bench to step up. If Turner is in there, he needs to be posting up and knocking the shots DOWN. If Meyers is in there, they should run pick and pop for him to shoot a three. Screens should be set for Curry to get open. We have unique scorers on our bench and we need to get them going.

I do agree with this. I'm just curious if say Curry subbed in for Dame with about 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and got to play with the starters if he'd get some better looks. Then Dame can come back and play the whole 4th and lead the 2nd unit while CJ instead sits at the beginning of the 3rd. If we can just play teams even those 5 minutes he sits we could blitz teams in the 4th. It also solves the problem of not having any of the starters except for occasionally CJ playing with the 2nd unit.

As the series progresses, they will look to copy-paste the Pelicans defense more.
It might be good to have a more natural 3pt shooter out there.

Sure, Jake is inconsistent, but those bench scorers who come off the bench and give you a random 15+ point night are huge factor of any wining playoff team.

Really you never posted about waiving Aminu to get up to $12M for Jake????
Never. Don't know where you get that from. We have Jake's Bird Rights so Aminu is irrelevant in regards to Layman unless we get hard capped. And $12M for Jake is an overpay so I have no idea where you're getting that from, but it's not me.

You might want to check the Jake thread again. I quoted your post there. You are the one who commented we would just have to let Aminu walk if Jake got 12M.
