I was thinking the same, but remember that the latest price cuts came on October 18, so I'm not sure if another is on the cards before sometime next year. I really prefered to wait until the 80 GB dropped to $399, but NHL 08 and Assassin's Creed have gained my interest, so I'm not sure what the hell to do at the moment. I also want the Wii, what with that amazing Mario Galaxy and the Zelda game.</p>

Seriously though, is it worth 500 dollars RIGHT NOW. I don't want to shell out that type of money for it if it isn't worth it. I've been a computer gamer the last few years since they've been putting out much better games up until recently.</p>

I think it's worth it. If you have an HD tv it makes it a lot better IMO. I've herd on Thursday they are releasing the beta of Home, so that should be coming really soon. It completes my home theater system.</p>

To me, PS3 and XBOX 360 are similar in their games. A lot of action - not just action games though - for the most part and plenty of titles to choose from. While Wii on the other hand you know will have the most unique titles available for it. That's why I'm getting a Wii someday as well. However for now, I need a console that has plenty of solid sports titles.</p>

I was already disappointed with FIFA 08 since they still didn't get rid of the 'running on rails' issue. NHL 08 on the other hand looks to make up for that loss, now i just have to hope that a great rugby game releases for the console soon.</p>

Is it worth it? All depends. If you're into sports games (especially the ones made by EA sports) I'd go with the 360 (EA has them running at 30 frames per second on the PS3 and 60 on the 360). Even Konami's Winning Eleven is better on the 360 (I have the demo for the PS3, it's unplayable...I think the 360 suffers from some of the same problems, but not as much).2K games, as far as I know, are pretty much the same.As far as some other gams on the PS3, I highly recommend Resistance: Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword, Motor Storm (however it does have awfully long loading screens) and, my favorite, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.I've bought Assassins Creed, but a day later Uncharted came out, and I've never taken it out of my PS3. The game is so much fun, it should be illegal. Oh and there are no loading screens, after the initial loading when you put the game in! Yes, you can skip through movies, you will play from level to level without ANY loading!

Yeah, I can understand getting a 360 for that, but for me personally I never play online, so that isn't an issue for me. I could care less for the Blu Ray since those films cost an arm and a leg anyway and I don't have an HDTV and don't plan on getting one either because I've never been that satisfied when viewing one, even the top notch ones. That's just me though. I just want a console that has great games and I see plenty on all three, but Wii will have to wait a bit and PS3 seems right with the sports titles. Just hesitant again to dish out the cash.</p>

If you are looking for a great, inexpensive Blu-Ray player that also plays games, get a PS3.</p>
If you just want a game system, get a 360 and cross your fingers you got one that will last a while.</p>
In a year, I think the answer might be different, but not yet.</p>

I've had three 360s succomb to the RLOD.</p>

like someone posted its about what you like. I own both systems and my ps3 is used mainly as a blu-ray player at this point. Most of the people I play with online all have 360, so I get any games taht are on both s ystems on 360 all the time. Here is how i'd break it down.</p>
Get a PS3 if...</p>
-you wanta blu-ray player</p>
-you can hold out for Metal Gear and a couple of other exclusive titles that keep getting pushed back</p>
-you want to browse the internet from your console</p>
-if you are more of a role playing game gamer</p>
Get 360 if...</p>
-you want full integration with other MS products like Zune and PCs running windows OS</p>
-You want better online setup with XBL</p>
-You play more shooters and sports titles</p>

Two comments.</p>

The 360 can play music with Media Connect, but you need a Media PC to play video. I could never even get the thing to connect to my hard drive at all.</p>

However, it has to be pointed out that the service costs $50 a year - no small fee - while the PS3 online service serves the same function and is completely free. I have found the PS Store to be easy to use and download a lot more demos than I did with the 360. The seperate "download and install" is kind of annoying - the 360 does both simutaneously - but I guess it just takes the 360 longer so it just seems like an inconvenience.</p>

I guess it just depends. I have had ZERO problems connecting my pc, when i had XP SP2, Media Center, and now Vista to my 360. You also don't need media center to stream videos anymore i don't think. It was in the last update.</p>
As far as the $50, true. But I'll pay $50 and have tha tonline setup, over sony's free one. You get what you pay for IMO.</p>

Wow, I have no LCD lights going out, and I've had it a year. Am I lucky, or does it just take time? Hm.</p>
PS3 ain't so bad, just too much money I'd rather not spend. I'm not big on consoles, I'd rather play on the go. </p>

Nah, I'm still happy with my 20 year old Zenith which still has better sound quality then what is offered today for such a large and exceedingly heavy box TV. lol
I've been meaning to play Uncharted, but I had to play Virtua Tennis 3 and Assassin's Creed first. Excellent games.

People who say it is repetitive are those that button mash. If you take the time to learn all of the attacks and counters it isn't repetitive in fighting. The only things that get a bit annoying at times are having to perform time related tasks that are quite cheesy and climbing way too many viewpoints. Other then this, the game is fantastic and is a shame to pass up on.
