I admire that Blake put's in max effort every time he's on the court - but, imo, both he and especially Kaman, are done.
They've both lost a step and are too slow to be effective.

They would be better off being coaches.

Yeah, Kaman is pretty worthless after about 5 minutes of game.

Blake regresses in the playoffs... a shame :(

We miss Mo Williams so bad. If lillard is slumping he'd pick up the offense.

The problem is Memphis doesn't respect our outside shooting so they can pack in the paint. Blake is good at getting the ball to the bigs.

Blake is a distributor and guys he gets the ball to aren't knocking down shots..it's not all on him

I don't expect much from Blake in the scoring department, but he needs to be able to contribute something on offense. He can't just be a passer. The defense has to at least fear his ability to knock down a shot. I had very low expectations for him this season, and he has somehow managed to do worse than I expected.

Here's my biggest frustration with Blake, and I suppose, my hatred for him notwithstanding, it's not entirely his fault. With LA not signing his extension, last offseason was our chance to show him we were dedicated to winning. It was where we were supposed to finally have a bench, thanks to the veterans we brought in, namely Blake and Kaman.

Whether or not expectations of Blake were met or not isn't the issue to me. It's the fact that he hasn't done enough - in my mind - to fulfill that "promise" (granted, it wasn't made by him, but still...) Aside from an infrequent flash in the pan from him(followed by a few weeks of mediocrity or worse) and a reliable 4 minutes per stretch from Kaman (followed by another 6 of inefficacy), those two have done almost nothing to bolster our bench. In fact, just about all bench output has been provided by the development of our younger bench players (and a few good months from Dorrell).

Kaman and Blake were huge in our early season success. Kaman has been injured off and on since the allstar game. Both have helped our bench production all season. Nobody has shown up for the playoffs..I think they deserve credit for contributing to the best bench production we've had in years.

Kaman is injury prone though. We knew that coming in, so we can't really give that as an excuse.

I agree but Kaman did a lot more than Jared Jeffries for us, injuries and all. It's not an excuse to credit what they have both contributed rather than judge the last 10 games we've played which is what a lot of folks seem bent on doing.

To be fair, I think Kaman had injury problems because Stotts was putting such a big work load on his shoulders early in the season.

Respectfully disagree. CJ (first two games notwithstanding and we would have lost them anyway) can pick up the offense just fine compared to Mo Chuck, plays better (although not great) defense, and doesn't stagnate the offense or freeze out other players. I'll take CJ 100/100 over Mo Chuck. In addition, our investment in CJ will pay dividends into the future.

This franchise should be past being happy with playing well early in the season. Right or wrong, fair or unfair, healthy or injured, what matters most for us is how you perform leading up to and in the playoffs. As the Spurs have shown time and again, early regular season games mean very little when you know you're going to make the playoffs...

STILL 0-for the series. Managing to cost us 5 points per game while he's in - in only 9 mpg. PLEASE can we give Frazier a chance?

Steve Blake current totals for the series:
minutes: 36
fgm/fga: 0/7
assists: 7

He has hit 2/2 fts and got a block(!), so there's that.

I think this will be the end of his career. He'll play his last year in Portland and that will be in. He's had a good run though. I think he'll probably retire, or I guess he could go be some third option at point guard if he really wants the money.

I fine with him back next year (I pretty sure he is on the books or has a player option - not a team one) but he has to be 3rd string PG and basically just gets off the bench for practice not games. Then move him into coach or management role. He has been very good to us but his time (playing) is up.

Yeah, sorry I meant that next year will be his last year. I think he does have a player option (that he already exercised?).

He would be a fool not to of course. Maybe he fines the fountain of youth this summer but I not banking on it and hope Stotts and Olshey aren't either.

The thing is, I didn't really expect him to be some kind of offensive juggernaut. I just wanted him to be able to come in, distribute the ball, play decent defense, and not make mistakes. I figured he could hit a couple shots and we would be golden. 5 or 6 ppg would have been fine. I didn't really anticipate him being this bad at scoring though.

Jabari young said that Blake does intend to opt in with his player option yesterday on the pregame show

Steve does look like he has lost his legs. He looks older right now then he did at the beginning of the season. Maybe he played too many minutes, maybe he is playing hurt, whatever it is he does not look the same. I agree with those who would keep him next year as the 3rd PG though.

I think he would be happy to just stay in Portland. I would keep him as a third point guard beyond next season for a low contract. Vet minimum type thing.

Like a lot of playrs on our team he has really fallen off a cliff. He was fine (for what he is) the first half of the season.
