The women's right portion is not accurate and here is why. While womens rights and trans rights intersect (there are trans women and you can disagree on that) Trump and his administration have worked to get rid of both in controlling women's bodies and what they can do with them and with basically writing executive orders to make being trans illegal. That is what people are angry about and they should be.
No one is against rapists or criminals here illegally being deported. They should be. It should also be done by the law. No one is holding the rights of illegal criminals above the rights of women. Nor trans people above the rights of women (the left is fighting for both women's and trans people's rights equally). No one on the left has said fuck women's rights. So, no it's no accurate.
Now, Trans women in women's sports has been a bit more of an argument between the right and the left. There are so very few trans people in sports. It's not all it's been made to be. Is there an unfair advantage with those very few, maybe. It's debatable.
Like I said very few cases. Trans people in sports make up such a small percent. I think it's mostly fear mongering. People afraid of more trans people taking up sports. Parents of the athletes that happened to have one of the few transgendered people on their daughters track team. Afraid their daughters aren't getting a fair shake. Angry at it. I get that. It's a balance between fairness and rights. It's a tough situation. And I'll tell you there are a lot of opinions on the matter. Not all people on the left agree with each other on it.
The slashing the government isn't accurate I agree. The right generally is the part of the spectrum saying big government is bad, not the left spectrum. There are those on the left, and I think many across the spectrum might agree that the part of big government that is bad is the influence of lobbyists for billionaires and corporations.
There are going to be responses like that. Best not to take it personally. I have to remind myself of that. Everyone can be childish or sarcastic at times. I get alot of such responses. I think people are exhausted with the current state of things and are less prone to be apologetic about things.
It would be nice if we could all always speak with consideration and have peaceful drawn out conversations without argument. But, is that really realistic when it comes to politics? Especially, in such heated times.
I think everyone is allowed to discuss most everything here. Moderation is not heavy unless things devolve. There are a lot of opinions posted here, of which there are many disagreements.
I won't go into how women feel with you. That went down a deep rabbit hole last time. I get where you were trying to get at. Some subjects are just delicate, some are really not our area of expertise so to speak.
I think most here speak truly about what they feel and believe. That might not always translate to great dialogue.
Great post.
I think the women's rights is accurate because i do not see how allowing a male transgender compete with females is protecting women's rights and pushing for equality. By using the same standard, the numbers don't matter. Only a few or in mass, To me, its wrong and a huge double standard.
I agree i think most speak truly on their feelings. But i think their feelings are biased and far from impartial.
When one says “i think your posts read as…” and the response is “dont tell me how to feel…”
or when one says “i think that women might feel this way or that way” and the response is “a man is telling women how to feel”
There is a blatant twisting of the statements to feed a hostile emotion basically claiming another is bad, when that individual was simply trying to engage in intellectual conversation.
When these people twist things like that on me personally? When they are people I've gone out of my way to be kind to? I find it completely disrespectful and basically spreading lies about someone….me.
Ive never once called anyone a man hater or tell anyone how to think or feel.
It prompts me to ask, why would someone twist words in such a way if they didn't want to portray me as the bad guy?
Again, great post and i truly appreciate your efforts. I think you know i consider you a good friend even if it may not be reciprocated, but the reality is you are but one person on this forum and there are others who portray bitter hatred and twist things around to validify the hateful behavior.
This twisting behavior seems to be fairly unanimously supported around here simply by the lack of posts correcting those who twists words around.
So when i speak of double standards, it’s this right here.
Some will rail all day, every day about all the injustices going on, but support verbal inaccuracies and then trying to justify such inaccuracies with more spin.
Some people around here love to point fingers but are either unaware or don't care that they do the same thing they bitch about every day.
It no longer bothers me, but I don't mind pointing it out, since it has had a direct effect on me in the past and has affected my relationship with this forum.
