Are people really that upset over this whole Ariel thing? It seems like 98% of the people posting on social media about it are the ones outraged over the 'outrage.' Feels like a giant strawman argument and a way for both sides of people to be 'upset.'

I think the people who are complaining about Ariel are really just using it as a way to push back against the recent trend of backlash against white actors being cast for non-white roles. Gotta have something to complain about, I guess...

A distraction, like Potato Head. Whip up faux outrage to cover for lack of political solutions (except book banning and hating gays and immigrants).

Even if these proportions are right, that's a good thing. People should be speaking against racist fucks before it becomes an epidemic that brings us a racist fuck like the last guy as a president.

Guess what those 2% of people don't care one shit about ... how (in their words) the lefty, woke, snowflakes feel about any issue at all. More screaming into the wind about whatever topic the twitter mob deems worthy this week!

True. But we want the easily confused to understand that this is not a good idea and call a racist a racist.

The deplorable are going to deplore. There is no changing them. But even if they do not care, we should. The problem is that when you do not point the obvious flaws some people think it is OK and go to follow the racist, misogynistic, homophobic and all other ills. It is absolutely OK to point at the idiots and call them what they are.

Let's be absolutely clear, the deplorable might not care that they are pointed as deplorable. But what I do not understand is why are other people defending them...

Yes. I'm from a family of truck drivers. Radio is how they get their news. And most aren't highly educated and want to believe they didn't screw up by skipping college.

They don't sympathize with white collar workers at all. Their bosses are white collar and they don't appreciate that.

As such, they don't listen to radio stations which are friendly toward white collar workers.

Now what's left over? Not good.

I have read and watched a lot of WW2 books and videos, and the time leading up to the Nazi's getting into power makes a lot of sense. It is fairly understandable how a number of folks bought into the Nazi propaganda and why it was so effective. But it just absolutely mystifies me how anyone buys into this crap with Trump, he's not young, he's not interesting, he's not dynamic, there's nothing in the 'rallies' that are hypnotic or well rehearsed and choreographed, nothing, it's just so boring. All he does is whine and bitch and moan in his whiney bitchy voice, it's just astounding how anyone finds this compelling. At least the Nazi's put in some effort, sheesh this guy hardly shows up, and when he does it's the same whiney bitchy grievances as every other time he talks.

I have to disagree with one thing. Nazi rallies might have had better choreography but Hitler was an absolute mediocrity. Never successful at anything. He articulated grievance and gave people a scapegoat to blame for their lack.

Not disagreeing, I am just saying I can understand how people were captured by it. If you watch videos showing what things were like prior to Hitler and the Nazi's and their propaganda, it's pretty easy to understand how it worked.
 
Trump supporters, to protest prosecution of those who stormed the Capitol, breaking numerous laws, decided it would be a great tactic to flood Veterans Administration crisis lines with calls demanding release of insurrectionists. Which VA couldn't grant.

So actual American veterans, who are in substance abuse or suicidal, can't reach crisis lines because these "patriots" are flooding them with fake calls.

This is the perfectly wrong place to ask this question because even those that have supported him (outside of maybe one) on here have jumped ship but WHY DO PEOPLE STILL FOLLOW THIS MAN??? I'm with you, I don't understand it at all. I got it in the beginning, maybe he'd be anti-establishment and really get some things done. I remember having the convo with my dad on election night in 16 and thought 'he won't keep up this act once in office, he'll become more presidential' but instead he went the other direction and has only gotten worse. At this point what does anyone see in him that is positive?

I think they see themselves in him, honestly. They were fed a pack of lies by Reagan that everyone could achieve the American dream of being filthy rich. And the reason they never got their isn't their own fault, obviously. So they gotta blame someone. Trump gets to go out and bitch about the poor, immigrants, minorities, etc. stealing jobs and what not, and that gives th their voice. They're too stupid to know or realize it's people like him that are fucking them over.

They are dumb enough to think he's self made. And they think, "Hey, that guy is even dumber than me, and he turned himself into a billionaire!"

And that makes them feel good about their chances. And he conveniently supports the oppressive policies they like as well...
