Look at the differences between those countries and Nordic and Scandinavian countries. In fact, in the comments above "socialist" probably should have had quotes.

The happiest countries actually have capitalist markets. But they are strictly regulated and use their capitalism based markets to offer generous, simple, logic and data based social services.

Everything is set up to avoid corruption and to offer protections to the end user and population at large.

The people coming here in masses are generally fleeing war and cartels.

We invite those people here to seek asylum. As any honorable country would.

agree with that, but also they are simply fleeing socialist countries that such as Venezuela Cuba China and others. Opportunities are offered here that are very attractive through capitalist society for the most part. I mean just look at all the creature comforts we have here in this great country!

Maybe. But nobody is suggesting we adopt the policies or markets of the corrupt countries those people are fleeing. It doesn't really matter what system their corrupt leadership say they have... It's just lip service.
 
New York Times ran puff piece on grossly misnamed Mom's for Liberty, homophobic racist book banners. They are just "concerned". Of course they do sometimes get "carried away" like when they "accidentally" approvingly quoted Hitler.

Because Hitler love is just getting carried away.

Actually that’s all you have to do. There are no strict rules to define what constitutes a socialist country.

Scandinavian countries have stricter immigration policies than the US.
 
Not sure if this counts as rock bottom but an error no serious publication should ever make, let alone a science magazine.

The current issue of Discover has a short piece on two rare species of spider and uses the phrase "these insects".

Spiders are not insects.

What does that have to do with anything?

Immigrants have significantly lower crime rates than US citizens. Even illegal immigrants have lower crime rates.

Second generation immigrants are the hardest working, most motivated, most productive members of US society.

Luckily Reagan's war on drugs was so successful. Imagine if we had the deal with all these problems AND drugs...
 
Got our hostages out of Iran and built bridges with them. Made some great friends by arming the Mujahadeen. Eliminated all those greedy unions.

Ahh, yeah, the Reagan Years. We are feeling the win from those to this day.

Once we were going back and forth about the merits of Trump and I threw this quote into the thread.

He didn't get it. This movie was big when he was in his early 30s, and it went right over his head. He corrected me and then someone else explained it to him.

It was at that moment I knew you couldn't have a sense of humor and be a member of the GOP.

I understand you think it's a good point. My question is why? What problems are introduced by immigrants?
