1. Haven't finished this, but I feel like the TLDR is "I didn't catch any pokemon, but I did catch herpes"
2. That moment when you are all talking about pokemon and you're the one who has it installed on your phone
3. "Hi, What ya lookin for" - "I'm looking for a charizard or squirtle" - "Sorry honey, i'm not a squirter. But for $20 we can still have a fun time"
STDs got to catch em all. Chlamydia I choose you!

Ingress, one of the more well known AR app games, has an issue called Cargressing. This is where you stay in your car instead of walking to the locations.

If Pokemon Go becomes a big deal I hope there will be some way of reducing the amount of playing while behind the wheel. There is a huge incentive to be mobile while playing Ingress and I can only assume the same applies to Pokemon Go.

Get ready to hear stories about car accidents related to this game in the coming months, if not already.

Pokémon Go used by armed robbers to lure players into trap

Armed robbers used the game Pokémon Go to lure victims to an isolated trap in Missouri, police reported on Sunday.

At about 2am in O’Fallon, Missouri, officers responded to a robbery report that led them to four people, all local residents aged 16 to 18, in a black BMW in a CVS parking lot. The occupants tried to discard a handgun out of the car when an officer approached, said Sgt Bill Stringer. The officer then identified the four people as suspects of similar armed robberies described in St Louis and St Charles counties.

The adult suspects were charged with first degree robbery, a felony, and had bond set at $100,000 cash, Stringer said.

Stringer added that police believe the suspects used the phone app, which directs users to capture imaginary creatures superimposed onto the real world, to tempt players into secluded areas where they could be easily robbed. At a certain level in the game, he noted, players can congregate at local landmarks to join teams and battle.

“Using the geolocation feature,” Stringer said, “the robbers were able to anticipate the location and level of seclusion of unwitting victims.”

Jesus the game hasn't even been out that long and criminals have figured out ways of exploiting it. Next it will be rape.

So Thursday I started noticing people talking about Pokemon Go on Facebook and Reddit. Then Friday it was even more, Pokemon Go... Pokemon Go...

I was confused, I thought Pokemon was an old game. Why are people suddenly talking about it? Then I found out, oh.... it's an app. Why are people getting so hyped on an app? So being the hip and culturally current SlyPokerDog that I am I down loaded it.

And.... I caught I pokemon. Not impressed.

That was last night.

This afternoon I went to a friend's house for BBQ. Having a few beers and some food. Someone mentions Pokemon Go. So I showed them the app as best I could, someone else called their kid over there and explained something about different poke things and how you could fight them and all sorts of stuff that just went in one ear and out the other. But in checking the app and I could see there some poke thing a block over. Well naturally I have to catch it.

Now my friend lives in a nice pocket of houses on SE 84th ave. Yes, there are some nice areas over there, not many but a few. Anyway, in looking on the app I could tell this poke thing was on SE 82nd ave and... hey there is another one just a couple of blocks down from there.

So I leave the BBQ and start walking to 82nd, walk and walk, looking at my phone, getting closer to catching this poke thing... and it leads me to the parking lot of an 82nd ave motel. So I'm not exactly sure how to catch a poke in this app game, I'm tapping on the screen, trying to get it, when one of the hotel unit doors opens and out walks this absolutely haggered looking 30yr old women, short short skirt, black vinyl ankle boots, flimsy top and she starts walking towards me. I suddenly realize that, 1. this woman is an 82nd ave hooker and 2, she thiks I'm standing in the parking lot of this hotel to do something with an 82nd ave hooker.

It's then that it's hits be that I'm playing a kids game on a phone and a hooker is approaching me. A mix of panic and embarrassment washes over me as I stop trying to catch this poke thing and put my phone in my pocket right as this rather scary looking woman reaches me.

"Hi, what ya looking for?"

"Uhhh... nothing."

"You sure? We can party."

"Uhh... no, just looking for something."

"I can tell."

At this point I spin around and walk out of the parking lot back to 82nd ave. I start to head back to the BBQ when I realized that there was a 2nd poke thing not to far from there so I pull out my phone, open the app... and you guessed it, went off towards the 2nd poke thing.

Walk... walk... walk..

Finally I reach it, I start to tap the screen, trying to catch it, tapping, nothing, tapping, nothing, grrrr, tapping, tapping.

"What ya looking at?"

It's then I realize that she followed me. I spin around and the hooker from the hotel is standing right behind me.

She smiles, steps closer, I shudder, she is not attractive, but I'm also a little freaked out that a hooker has been following me along 82nd ave.

"I'm just looking for something. I gotta go."

I turn and started walking really fast back to the BBQ, Continually looking over my shoulder to make sure I wasn't being followed.

TL/DR

Tried to catch a Pokemon, instead ended up with a Poke Ho.

Who are you kidding sly, you know you did her

This app is crazy! I had about 20 kids this weekend stop at the corner of my street in front of my house playing that game. When walking the dogs with my son who has the game, we saw about 15 kids tracking stuff down. I downloaded it to see what the hype is (and something to chat with my son about) and tried playing it, but have no clue what I'm doing. My son and some friends are gonna hop on their bikes today and cruise the neighborhood catching stuff, which is great because it gets his ass off the Xbox. The format of the game is very cool. I'm hoping there will be a more grown up version of this type of game soon.

I was at a store this weekend and the clerk helping me gets a phone call. He then has to spend about 5 minutes answering all these questions about the "pokemon gym" located at the store.

Google makes a similar app for all ages, but more adults play it in my experience, called Ingress. People all over the world play it.

There are other so-called geo caching games available, but I don't play any of them to give a recommendation or even a name.

Stay safe, wouldn't want you to catch a Syphilisaur, or even worse, Charmidia and Magiclap.

Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Magikarp are the pre-diseased root monsters according to the CDC, if you're wondering

My kids play this. It annoys the fuck out of me. Trying to relax and they jump up, startle the hell out of me and my dog. to catch one of these things.

Love that they are "active" though.

Yeah it's what sly was really working on. The hookers will wear Pokemon suits and in order to catch them you've got to not get caught by the police who will dress up as Pokemon trainers.

I did the same thing on Friday. I had downloaded the app on Thursday to see what all of the buzz was about. I step outside my front door on my way to work. I think, maybe I should look and see if there are any pokemon around here. Sure enough, there's one two doors away. I don't realize that you don't have to be right on top of it to catch it. As I am sort of walking in my neighbor's flower garden, a car pulls up and I'm thinking yeah, this isn't such a good idea... I still don't know what I am doing. But I guess if it motivates me to go for walks in the neighborhood it can't be all bad.

Niantic was a Google startup project. One could think of Ingress as the completely free to play with no in app purchase proof of concept for Pokemon Go.

I contemplated creating an Ingress like app where you could fight AR dragons and monsters, but figured some other company was already working on such an obvious implementation of this so it never got beyond the idea phase.

I looked at Ingress. According to the app store its made by Niantic, same company that made Pokemon Go.

I walked three miles today in the rough streets of Stayton... And couldn't catch one of these damn Pokemon. All the Pokemon that would pop up would be in people's backyards and I ain't gonna ask to go in people's backyards lol

Slacker. Next time you complain about a Blazers lack of hustle I expect you to look in the mirror first.

You don't have to ask, just hop the fence and catch that rascal! After all the occupants aren't at home, because if they were that Clefairy would have been captured already. Get back out there and make us proud!
