Trading into the draft is brutally expensive for an impact player and this year’s draft will be especially so. Because we don’t have the talent to compete with Spurs, OKC, Wolves, LAL always a threat to land a superstar to pair with Luka, and Denver is on a similar timeline to us as we are currently built. All of them are on comparable or better timelines.
The only thing that could change it is if Sharpe exploded and reached his potential. Smaller chance for Scoot and infinitesimally small chance Yang becomes great. Dame has like maybe 3-4 years left at a high level assuming he isn’t a much worse version coming off the Achilles (sadly likely). Jrue wont command much value, RW3 is always questionable. We have a bunch of solid pieces but no superstar. Playoff exits are meaningless (see early Dame seasons) if you lack the talent to get over the humo.
