Get rid of that Twitter thing on the side of the main screen because it doesn't work/Musk sucks

Twitter doesn't exist in my world...never used it, never pay much attention to it even when it tried to run the country from Trump's cell phone.

I like the "Like" button, but would love to see a "Totally Agree" button. Then the "Like" button becomes a response along the lines of you made good points. I have never used the "Reply" button. Replace it.

Don't care.

I like getting the instant news that Twitter provides, but at the same time I have hated it long before Musk bought it. Message boards are one thing, they can be fun. But comments from everyone on every topic from those on Twitter can all go away as far as I am concerned. I don't need to be reminded constantly how many idiots there are in the world.

No, I enjoy the tweet feed. I pay attention to it and it has had valid information in the past.

I don’t let the politics of it affect me. I was using Twitter when Elon Musk was sucking on a binkie. Binky?.. You know what I mean.

Do you see tweets there anymore? For the last couple weeks it has been blank for me. It has just said "Nothing to see here"

There's nothing there. It's broken. It has been broken since Elon screwed with how many tweets people can view.

Now is probably the best time. Crickets with Blazers news and seems that may be the case for the next 2 months.
I'm not familiar enough to say, but hasn't it been on the side for like 2-3 years or longer? That's what I meant, why now?

That was done to prevent data mining and protect people actually from the results of that automated data mining. That's why even paid subs are capped. It's because that information was being used to create very sophisticated censorship algorithms.

Capping how many tweets people can view is hilariously stupid though. You're basically going back to the old days when you had to buy minutes on AOL. Why would you limit participation on a social media platform?

Be careful. Anything other than "Trump bad" will get you unwanted attention. Same with "Musk bad, too".

I explained why. Data mining for censorship bots.

I don't hate the guy.... but it's pretty hilarious that he paid so much money for the brand and then immediately killed the brand.
Killed the brand, you mean the “those in line with Davos WEF narratives can say anything and any dissent to that is censored” brand?

Also, this is pretty clearly a politically motivated thread (duh) and should be moved to OT forum IMO.

I like that idea of a Agree & Disagree tab. Rather than just a Like tab.

Talking about a corporation is politically motivated?

The hatred for Elon Musk is beyond me.
Hatred is a strong word, but you aren't tired of him, hearing from and about him? It's almost as bad as the Jesus stuff and Trump when he was relevant. It's like we're a captive audience, no, no, no, I'll tell you what it's like:

it's as if the zoo animals are visiting us whenever they feel like it instead of us visiting them.

Also (on topic): I liked the Twitter/X feed before the tweets/exes quit loading...

That's stupid though..... it's a social media site. The whole point of a social media site is to..... socialize.

Would you come on this site if you could only view a certain number of posts or could only post on here a couple times per day?

If it prevented people from creating censorship algorithms (via data scraping/mining for language models) being unleashed on humanity, or even slowed that down, I absolutely would.

Freedom of speech and free exchange of ideas was quite literally a foundational principle of this country that close to everyone agreed on my entire life until very, very recently. Ironically, it was the Right who used to argue for censorship, but now that the Neo-Left (this is why I no longer identify as Left despite being an environmentalist, and someone who believes in equal access and equal opportunity despite our skin suits) does it, suddenly its a good thing. This despite censorship being the hallmark and bedrock of quite literally every totalitarian regime in all of history. It turns out if you repackage totalitarianism in a Trojan horse of compassion, quite a few people will buy it hook, line and sinker. Of course every regime in history has always said they were censoring "for your protection to protect you from false information". The thing is, the Truth doesn't need protection, it just needs time and to compete against lies. It always, always wins. Which is why totalitarian regimes always, always push censorship. Lies need protection, the truth does not.

So yeah, I definitely would come here if it helped to remove the scourge of automated censorship and the slippery slope to totalitarianism that will inevitably flow from that. People on here know a lot about sports, but it sure seems that quite a few folks on here know history, or they are willfully blind about what has been happening the past especially 3 years, and how the very same movements I once wholeheartedly supported have been captured by vast corporate power emanating from Davos/WEF. I won't comment in here further, so feel free to have the last word.

Not really. Then again, he doesn't really register for me.

Ironically, the fact that you think that is a side-effect of censorship of history.

I guess these algorithms are over my head because capping how much information people can view is censorship….. right now. So essentially we are fighting censorship with censorship? That seems pretty stupid to me.
