The Knicks are one of the only franchises that has had it worse that Portland....they couldn't crawl out of the gutter for the longest time and had a monster payroll. Then fans finally think they arrived after acquiring two all-stars, and they're nothing but a mediocre Eastern team.

The Knicks are maxed out with Amare, Chandler and Carmelo. I image the Knicks might be willing to dish him off for cap space, meaning we could use our cap space and maybe Wesley Matthews to get him.

I don't think he's worth it, even if we got him for nothing.

you have to do it. always get league superstars on your team. i'm not a huge mello fan anyway, but fuck it.

Why would Melo/Aldridge be any better than Melo/Amare? And I can almost guarantee that he throws a fit as soon as he gets here and demands a trade.

The article says it will cost us both picks and Batum.

So solly, no can do.

The Knicks are definitely NOT in a sell high scenario. If they want to unload Melo's contract, they will be taking pennies on the dollar. I might give them ONE pick and a TPE.

still probably a higher chance to get past the first round or make noise in the playoffs versus getting Goran Dragic as our starting PG to go along with the draft picks that are historically likely to not even be in the league after a few years and keeping Batum and let him show up every other game.

Aldridge is much better than STAT and they play different games. Aldride would probably be pretty solid in a second scoring position again.

You have to stack talent if you don't have it. Fuck everything else. Fuck future cap space, fuck draft picks (not in the top 3), fuck young talented guys that will never make an all-star team. If you can get a young superstar in his prime (and top 5 scorer in the league) without giving up the current allstar on the team, you have to do it.

There's no chance they offload him after a season...after what they gave up for him. Come on, would be a public relations nightmare. And it's not like he's broken down either.

I agree, but that doesn't change my point. If they were to trade Melo this summer, they wouldn't get near the value that they dealt for him. The guy forced his way out of Denver, he's an egocentric douchebag, and he has proven to be a one-trick pony. How else is NY going to climb out of this hole? They're stuck with Melo and Amare for another four years.

Between Amare, and now Melo, it's evident that the Trailblazers may have a gambling problem. . . ?

Hell no.

Melo has never made a team better, and this goes against my philosophy of staying as far away as you can from Syracuse players as possible

No interest in him either.

He would be fine if you had a leader or someone like Roy on this team. Melo is not a leader and if you are going to sell yourself out to bring in a player. Bring in a player that has the ability to lead on and off the court. He ain't taking you anywhere. That's what this team needs.

I pretty sure NY wouldn't trade Melo for anyone on Portland, or most teams for that matter.

This is a stupid comment. Sorry, maybe ignorant is the right word. While there is probably mo one straight up, Portland could very easily obtain Melo with it's assets.

This.....

POR shouldn't waste a bunch of time on this fishing expedition....

Inquire, yes.....pursue at all costs...no.

Most overrated "superstar" in the NBA. A big, fat, HELL NO!

I liked this idea ...four years ago.

This ship has sailed.

Is he a winner? He puts up great stats (offensively) but he's one of the worst defensive wings in the League. He also holds a 17-36 Playoff career record.

Because LMA can defend a bit, and is a better player at this point than Stoudemire and his 17.7 PER this year.

Anthony strikes me as another Zach Randolph. He could be a great teammate if he gets dumped by enough teams that his ego gets downsized. I'm not sure that Portland would be that team, but if we could get him the same way Memphis got Z-Bo, I'd be game. Assuming, of course, there weren't better options out there.

I'd rather hire D'Antoni and then sign Lin. Watching Lin lead the Knicks was much more fun and exciting then watching Melo 'lead' them.

That's the main thing I like about him. Ever noticed how he looks like Clinton?
