Portland Atheist do their own bus ad

Organized atheism is the same as organized theism IMO.

Why not just "God is a sham"? Why mix the two languages?

Why not "supernatural entities" are a sham? Plenty of religions don't worship a "God".

The agenda is obvious, and it is just as divisive as what many religions do.

Not really. One groups goal is letting you know it is ok to not be religious. The other groups main goals tend to try and make you feel like an outcast if you aren't religious.

Hmm, isn't Athiests advertising a form of evangelism?

agreed (surprisingly). Besides, nobody is going to be convinced by an ad on the side of a bus, especially Portlanders. Waste of time and especially money. Why not give a donation of new science textbooks/equipment to public schools instead?

i don't know, atheists think everyone is going to have the same "After-life." There is no condemning the non-believers.:dunno:

Instead, they insult, denigrate, and dehumanize believers.

generally the point of these ads is not to convert true theists. it's to get the message out that there's nothing wrong with being an atheist. the target audience is people who are already leaning that way.

not in the religious sense. again, the purpose of these ads typically is to undermine social/psychological roadblocks - to let poeple who are already having atheistic thoughts/reasoning know that there's nothing wrong with it/them.

So, what is religious broadcasting/advertising to those who are agnostic?

highly irritating

If that's the case, then this Atheist ad should be highly irritating to an agnostic as well.

Of course, since I'm truly agnostic, neither bother me at all. I do have to laugh at the "Atheist" social group organizing to the point that they place public ads proclaiming their own (non-)beliefs.

It's so ironic. I really do laugh at it.

There's a big difference in what is being said, though.

Christians are telling me that I am going to endure eternal suffering because I am living a life in sin.

Atheists are telling me that if I don't believe in God, there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't think it's ironic.

Personally, though, I find both things sort of irritating simply because people should be smart enough not to be swayed in their religious beliefs from a fucking bus ad or billboard.

I wonder if you voiced that opinion in Morrocco or anywhere you visited in the Middle East?

That religious broadcasts are irritating? No, I didn't. Why would I?

edit: at least, not to any Muslims. The calls to prayer at ungodly hours of the night were worse than a thousand televangelists.

Yet you express it here. Hmm...
