Not a bad idea. I like that they are thinking outside the box. Of course that's mostly because they have to.

Not sure how much he had to do with things, but.......

95' Bryant Reeves. Glaring oversights Lil Damon, Kurt Thomas, Brent Barry. However others passed on them as well.

96' Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Solid pick. Others there as well, but can't argue that one

97' Antonio Daniels. Solid pick again, Passed on T-Mac, but so did others.

here's some more background on him:

Noah E. Croom has served as Legal Counsel and Agent for Goodwin Sports Management (GSM) since 2002. Noah is known for his expertise in interpreting the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary cap.

Prior to joining GSM, Noah held positions at a prestigious law firm, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Vancouver Grizzlies. He spent three years with New York City based Latham & Watkins as a corporate associate specializing in public offerings of debt, equity securities, mergers and acquisitions. During his stint with the NBA, Noah was involved in negotiating the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NBA Players Association, assisting teams in interpreting the Collective Bargaining Agreement and drafting international television agreements as well as special agreements for events such as the NBA All-Star Game and NBA Draft.

Noah left the NBA to join Stu Jackson and the Vancouver Grizzlies during their inaugural season as Assistant General Manager and Legal Counsel. With the Grizzlies, Noah negotiated all player and coach contracts and represented the team in its negotiations with the NBA league office. Noah has also advised both the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets in connection with various player-related matters.

Noah graduated from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA with a degree in Economics in 1987 and received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1990.

So the GM will be the bean counter/accountant/legal guy and Allen (via Chad Buchanan) will handle the trades, player evaluations and draft as usual? Can't wait ...

Sounds like a very solid canidate IMO.

Why? He sounds like an awesome candidate for assistant GM. Sort of a Tom Penn type of guy. He is not known for evaluating players though, which this team sorely needs ASAP. Crawford, Felton, Nolan Smith, the drafting of known injured guys like Oden and Roy

An Aaron Goodwin protege.

There would be worse choices, but I hesitate to add that Jamal Crawford is represented by the Goodwin firm. :)

Haha.

"Hey, Noah, c'mere. We will hire you as GM if you convince Jamal Crawford to opt out this off season."

"Cool, what will I be in charge of? I mean can I pick the coach? evaluate the incoming draft class? Propose trades?"

"No, but if you don't disagree with us we will let you keep the job for over a year"

Sounds like a good gig to me, where do I sign up?

I don't know about Croom, but I think it's great that they are actually talking to someone about the position.

Ed O.

If I get the job........ MM would be my head scout. BeerBoy would be the cheerleader coach. Zags would be the head ball boy. And EdO would be my head coach.

Whatever.....just sign some scouts people that can evaluate talent and have a vision for the roster. Now we have a shoe guy, an accidental billionare, and a scout with a pretty poor track record up to this point. I agree with the poster above who said this type of guy should be an assistant. What will Larry Miller's role be if we sign a guy like this to be a GM?

IF HE HAD A SON, HE WOULD LOOK LIKE RAJON RONDO.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It seems like usually the GM has the strongest voice in deciding who to draft or who to trade for.

Another unqualified yes-man to continue the Miller-as-secret-GM fiasco.

I didn't really expect anything to change.

His background is pure lawyer. Did he ever play the game? Has he ever coached, like at the Boys & Girls Club?

So, has he been hired? I mean, why not wait for a hire before you say it's a terrible hire? Lots of people get interviewed.

Or is waiting for facts just no fun?

Not fun at all. Message boards are all about fan(atics) over analyzing everything and freaking out before something actually happens

That's for sure, mm! I've never seen so many people get so upset and fight so much over something that hasn't happened!

Oh well, we all have our own definition of a good time, and I guess it's harmless. More or less. Better virtual than real fights.

Agree 100%.
