Pro Basketball News has also been hearing since preseason that the Portland Trail Blazers have been seeking out teams for a blockbuster move as well, with no one outside of Greg Oden, LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy considered untouchable.

Link

hard to believe. why fix whats not broken

Vince and Simmons for LaFrenz, Outlaw, and Batum and a protected first.

No thanks. VC is [--] this close to being washed up. And no way would I include Batum in a package.

Fine, that makes everyone on your team off limits, so there are no trades that can possibly be made by any team with the Portland Trail Blazers...that is the team, that according to my power rankings, is currently the 27th best team in this season, only ahead of the Kings, Clippers, and Wizards.

It's not that everyone is untouchable, it's that Kirk doesn't warrant most of our players. You're not trading the Kirk Hinrich of three years ago, you're trading the Kirk Hinrich of the present, and that's not a good thing.

I dont want to trade anyone... especially Joel.

Kirk Hinrich for Przybilla?

Excuse me while I laugh uncontrollably.

your power rankings suck balls.

given the situation joel is untouchable. we only have 2 centers and one hasnt completed a whole game yet

Oh my god I want Gerald Wallace, BAD.

I'm almost of the opinion that Fernandez and Batum should be untouchable. Fernandez i know has only played five games but he looks to be an excellent player with a high probability of going special. If he and Roy can learn to play in the same backcourt. Watch out.

Batum is 19 and they already have him starting. Note that he was in at the end of the game guarding McGrady. Quite simply his ceiling is unbelievable and its alrady not a stretch to assume he can become an above average NBA starter in a amtter of years. With the talent surrounding him he doesn't even need to be a great scorer but his shot has looked pretty good so far and will only get better.

Actually, that was LMA on TMac for the last two posessions, yes?

outlaw covered mcgrady after batum got his 5th foul with about 4 minutes left in the 4th. Aldridge got mcgrady a couple of times at the end on a switch. Batum only got back in on the play where Ming hit the last second shot.

You are a mind reader ... I worry a little about his durability, but a lot of his injuries came when he was forced to play out of position at the 4 ... But, damn he'd be a great get.

If it's a blockbuster I would assume they are looking to make a major upgrade at the point.

I also think this writer has absolutely no clue of how the Blazers feel about Rudy Fernandez and what they had to do to get him here. We have a big-4 and Rudy is included.

My pipedream (<--Just want to make that crystal clear) would be prying Tony Parker away from the Spurs.

PG: Parker
SG: Roy
SF: Batum
PF: Aldridge
C: Oden

6th man: Rudy

It's nice to dream...

Blake, Fry, Outlaw for Gerald Wallace works

:ghoti::ghoti::ghoti::ghoti::ghoti::ghoti::ghoti::ghoti::ghoti::ghoti:

but I don't see it happening. If we make any deals I sure hope we send out Blake and Outlaw, because no one else on the team can do any wrong in my eyes.

No thnx to Gerald Wallace. Injuries aside, his contract is ugly.

$8,287,500

$9,075,000

$9,862,500

$10,650,000

$11,437,500

In what universe is that a bad contract for a guy who is 26, is a good defender, insanely athletic, good rebounder, and puts up 18-19 points per game? I agree that his concussions are a little worrisome, but his contract more than fairly reflects his value.

For what he brings to a team, that contract seems fair.

You have to think about down the road when Wallace is making $10+ million we still have to resign Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Greg Oden to long-term deals.

So we end up in luxury tax land. I think PA has shown a willingness to pay for a winner in the past and it's not like we would be prevented from signing our own free agents.

Dave at Blazers edge chimes in:

Pro Basketball News is reporting that a move for Charlotte's Gerald Wallace is imminent. You can read the whole story through the link. Portland is considered a possible destination.

There are scenarios involving Raef LaFrentz or some combination of Channing Frye, Travis Outlaw, and Steve Blake that work. There are also three-way scenarios with Golden State giving up Al Harrington which are possible.

First of all, Raef's contract is bigger than Wallace's. Either there is a third team involved or Portland takes on a player they want to get rid of. And rumors are it's a local boy. This works under the cap:

To Charlotte:
Raef LaFrentz
Travis Outlaw

To Portland:
Gerald Wallace
Adam Morrison
