If it was Lawful, why was he fired?

Because the Chief played politics to keep his job, and Mayor Sam Douchebag was the "Police Commissioner" (which is a serious fucking joke to anyone who's ever worn a badge) at the time. A guy who, literally, knows NOTHING about police work.

Fine. Go argue with this guy about it:

He's the expert witness who testified for the Police Union in the case.

Fuck him. And fuck the Police Union.

A man was shot in the back who was unarmed. Saying he was reaching for something that wasn't there doesn't make sense.

And if it doesn't make sense it's not true. Frashour is a fucking liar and the "expert witness" has to go off of Murdering Rick's statement.

.....and how are police supposed to know whether or not he has a weapon? They're just supposed to believe him if he says so?

See, this is where you begin to lose credibility. There's a LOT of dead cops who were too complacent when they shouldn't have been. Or questioned themselves at the moment of truth and hesitated.

Just ask Deputy Kyle Dinkheller how that worked out for him....or rather, his widow.

uh, I don't like this sort of shit. This is where new directives are needed for Police and it can't be done by People pandering for votes. Nor people that are hired by the panders.

The don't shoot a bear for not obeying commands, but they will a man, that can't hear, or can't understand. Not operating in the community interests.

A bear doesn't have the ability to understand what it's doing. A human does. And you better believe anyone with a gun is going to shoot that bear if it poses a threat to anyone.

I agree with you that police policies should not be decided by people pandering for votes (politicians). I'd much rather trust my data and procedures to people like Dr. Lewinski and Massad Ayoob. People with many decades and real-life experience wearing a badge at all levels.

Not civilians. As you can tell by dviss's posts, they just don't GET it. Policies should be decided by police officers. Not politicians or civilians.

No, not always the case.

When you expect rational behavior, from an irrational person, you are also irrational. The police do this by training when it becomes stress time and it produces poor results due to irrational expectations in response to commands.

I think this is a great point. People always talk about the stress police are under, but it's also true that people being confronted by the police are under stress as well and don't have training to deal with it. The idea that a (non-violent) error in judgement or a false motion should consign them to being shot ten times is hard to swallow.

Huh. You make a good point. It's important to understand, however, that MOST people respond immediately to police commands, and end up being just fine. I will submit that it is impossible to judge how every person will react when confronted by police, regardless of the aggressiveness of the command.

Actually, it is unacceptable. Can't quite figure out how to make a change here.

Is this just baseless speculation, or do you actually have some supporting evidence to corroborate your claim. Is she not sufficiently qualified? Did someone else interview significantly better? Does she have a checkered professional past?

What facts--besides the facts of her genitalia and melanin concentration--lead you to conclude that those factors were the primary considerations in her hiring?
As Bill Maher says, I don't know it for a fact, I just know it's true. You see a lot of women, minority and lesbian police chiefs these days because cities want to be politically correct and have a shield against accusations of racism.

Portland is run by leftist libtards, and leftist libtards are really into identify politics, and you know what's going through their mind, we're going combat Trump being in the white house by putting the biggest minorities on the oppression scale in positions of power.

I personally knew a ginger buzzcut Lesbian police officer who adopted a black son (a member of our Explorer Post). And I personally watched her fucking destroy a couple of doors during high-risk entry training, and at the time of her hire back in the 1990s, she was the only female in VPD who was certified for the AR-15.

She was anything but PC. And she was about the last person I'd ever want to fuck with on this Earth.

Affirmative action?

We need to hire more cops like this if you really want to clean this city up FAMILIA!!!!

I'm in love with her as a person. But, she even mentioned that doubt with her statement about hoping it was her qualifications. She knows she's qualified and I don't blame her for a little bit of doubt.

I think she's going to be awesome.

I just don't want her to get thrown under the bus when some aggressive idiot cop does something wrong. That's really starting to be a bad trend.

It's like painting sunglasses on the Mona Lisa.

Just got back from downtown. There was a sweet 61 Chevy convertible, taking in the sights along the waterfront. Show room condition, no hydraulics or other mods. Classic.
