I know why she hugged him. I can break it down. I don't like Trump but people seem to think he is racist for whatever reason. They kinda think he is just everything, hitler in general. That white lady at the protest was just another white person I dislike, seriously the most racist people towards white people are other white people. It's gross. So she hugged him because he is black, because in her weird mind she believes that trump is some racist who will put everybody in camps. 7 months in and all he manages to do is spam childish tweets. Wooooo what a fascist that dude is

Barely. The basically paid her at the highest end of the range. Part of that may have been compensation for having to uproot her life and move. I don't know if that was a factor, but it's not unusual in other jobs.
 
The large MAJORITY of the protests were peaceful. You saw what the media told you to think.

As I said, it's not uncommon for employers to compensate new employees for having uproot their life and move, regardless of whether you feel sorry for all the poor dears.

I'm a little perplexed on why they need to hire people from outside of Portland though. It seems to me that policing a city is as much about understanding the culture of the city as it is about police training and experience.

Was there no one on the Portland Police Force that was adequately qualified?

Maybe she has a different perspective that will help our cause? Frankly, I have never really cared who they hire. A cop is a cop is a cop. They're not black. They're not white. They're blue, and they care more about the thin blue line than they do about the people they're supposed to be protecting.

I don't follow the Police doings closely unless they are behind my car, but my impression is that the department has had some problems and they are hiring from the outside to clean things up.
