We do?? Since when?
Dem vertebraes... always be compressin.
Not many but we have some.

I think the thing that is interesting is people in here seem to be expecting us to sign starting caliber players using MLE and BAE, and pass up starting opportunities and more money from teams with cap space, or on paper better teams.
Yeah..... if not Blake and Kaman, who?

Not entirely, but kind of. I find that most people who are unhappy with a signing typically don't have an alternative to suggest that would make them happier. Or if they do have an alternative solution typically that solution is much better than our resources ($, Location, quality of current team, trade assets) allow us to acquire. Why do you think that, because posters don't like Kaman or Blake?

Obviously LeBron, Deng and Bosh.

I get if you don't like a guy, but I like to hear what people think is a reasonable alternative and why.

Not my first choice but I can live with it. All I have to do is remember Nolan Smith being that guy not so long ago. I figured it'd be Blake or Ridnour with what we had to offer. At least Blake loves Portland. That's a plus and as someone mentioned he does have chemistry with LA and Nico. Good locker room guy.
100% On board with this. I've asked some posters this (we'll leave names out, unless someone wants to know) and either they have completely ignored it or went to some semantical attack.
In short, they don't know what the hell reality is when it comes to money. Can't buy a $100,000 car with $5,000.![]()
And it's not terribly difficult to look at those guys and compare them to what the guys we did sign do and realize that maybe they simply don't fit our system quite right. Frye for example do we really need or want a 3 pt shooting center that doesn't bring a hole lot more? Or Livingston a Guard that can't hit a 3 at all.It will be interesting to see what some of these guys end up signing for over the next few weeks.
Some of the names that people were throwing out before the FA period started went for way higher than people thought.
Frye
Vasquez
Livingston
Hawes obviously spurned us, so you can't blame Neil for that one. I think he made some phone calls on July 1st, found out that our money wasn't going to get us very far, and made offers to guys that he felt would fill the needs that he wanted to address.
No, because they think that the Blazers should be able to get bigger names with their money....even though the recent signings around the league fail to support such an opinion.
So, as a fan you have to like the Kaman signing or because if you don't than it is because fan thinks the Blazers should be able to get a bigger name. You can't just not like the Kaman signing. OK . . .
Same situation with Blake I guess (which I personally don't mind that signing).
Basically you have to like the Blazers moves or you don't see what is going on around the league. That's one way to think about it . . .

Well, I was pretty underwhelmed with the Kaman signing at first, but honestly who else could we have gotten that was better? Hawes turned us down. Frye signed for a stupid contract with the Magic. What's left? We only signed him for a couple years. It's a cheap deal. I'm really not that upset about it. Whether you like Kaman and Blake or not, I think everyone should realize that backup PG and backup C were needs that had to be addressed, and this is most likely the best Neil could do with what he had.

But why does someone have to come up with an alternative? If someone didn't like the Wright signing, they didn't have to come up with an alternative to be correct about not liking the Wright signing.
Personally I don't know what was out there. How do we know if Olshey offered max yrs of the MLe to Hawes or Colllison or whoever. Any name I come up with for an MLE could be rebutted "well you don't kow if Olshey didn't try" Also I'm not going to pretend to know what the market is. All these "reality" people were swearing that Hawes would get well over the MLE. Wrong. We don't know what is going on or who is available for what.
But is it so hard to look at a transaction and give an opinion if it is a good one or bad one. So many here say all these other contract being given out are bad deals (like Frye). So basically Blazers make good deals and other teams make bad deals. Got it.
