Crap, I'm going to have to find something else to help with my insomnia. Soccer was great for that.

Watched the game at a local soccer bar. About 50 people in this old school place. Besides us about 10 other timbers fans. There was a guy in there with a god damned chain saw! They had about 50 scarves in the rafters including a Sounders and Crew ...... So Coach Rice climbed up on a ladder and raised one up! Great time! #RCTID

Soccer is the second best sport there is. This is the first year I've watched almost all Timbers games and we win the freaking CHAMPIONSHIP!!! I think I was the good luck charm.

Well, quit your frickin slacking when it comes to the Blazers.

Rice up there hanging the banner. EPIC!

I love how it looks like it was filmed in 1960.

Trough a potato nonetheless. I got excited and posted the first video I found. This goal shouldn't have counted, but I'll take it.

Love how this video is 22 seconds.

Football players don't get paid enough in America. Look at Wallace score that goal, and then have to avoid all the cans being thrown at him by Crew supporters. Ron Artest would have been half way into the stands.

I don't get hate on the sport when their are people all around the world this passionate about it. Forget what it is, that is a shit ton of strangers united.

I feel like the MLS will continue to grow larger and larger in this country. Could you imagine if 'Soccer' became the second most watched sport in America? Right behind Basketball of course! Think how awesome that would be. The Timbers would forever be talked about as a pioneer of the sport in America, and here we are with a front row seat.

The commissioner just announced that the league will expand to at least 28 teams. Atlanta and a second team in LA will be the next to be added to the league, and then Minneapolis/St Paul, and it looks at though Beckham has just closed a deal on a stadium location in Miami. Things are looking up for MLS. The league still lags well behind the best leagues in the world but it is trending sharply upward.

And those cans were not empty.

Good, they are going to up my dosage for my insomnia. Can't complain.

I know the league is growing but my hope is that it doesn't lose it's "cherry." While TV ratings and new fans are good, the MLS has developed this a small core audience that's kept it afloat for 20 years. Part of the reason Portland was able to build this team was because of international scouting, designated player limits and the continued growth of academies. Since soccer is the most popular game in the world, their is enough talent to go around. If the focus becomes player branding and TV market size, this will all change. The NFL is a good example of sports entertainment gone out of control....
