Portland Trail Blazers trade rumors 2016: Clippers' Blake Griffin the missing piece? (1 Viewer)

Bring Boogie to Portland, we need some more high profile trades like we had 17 or so years ago, those were fun days.

I'd be concerned that the Clippers would even think of trading Blake. If CP3 can't reign in Blake why would Dame?
They are absolutely not resigning CP3. They're only resigning Blake if they give him a supermax, and maybe not even then.

I'd rather have DeMarcus Cousins. But if Vonleh can continue to grow and improve and show signs like he did last night. There might not need to do a thing.
We don't have a choice of which top 20 player in the league we want. If we can get one, we'll be lucky.

Doc has too much power with Clips benig coach and president. I think he will only look at trades if it helps him NOW. He is not going to start over. He had a young team in Boston and was almost fired. So if he trades Blake, it will only be for a star player. Same with Cp3.

Dame signed for 5. He will be 30. CJ for 4. He will be 29. Not much of a window between 30-35.

You're assuming they won't resign after this contract. If the team is winning and the chemistry continues to be as it is, I don't think it's unreasonable to think they wouldn't sign another extension. If they do, that window goes another 4-5 years. That's potentially a 10 year window. In just his first game back, Vonleh showed some marked improvement. If he continues to do that, as long as he is getting the time to develop, It's not inconceivable to think he could help this team as soon as this year. He brings something to the team they doesn't have. A low post presence, some interior D and rebounding.

With that said, If DeMarcus Cousins can be had without stripping the roster from much of its depth and talent. I would package Vonleh with others and do that. I would do that same package for Blake Griffin. But I have concerns about some of his past injuries and wonder just how durable his body is.

Also have to think of it a bit in terms of college recruiting. Few franchises do this. SA is really the only one that stands out as a team that continues to bring studs in and build role players that rotate around them. I dont think its enough anymore to try to get everyone at the same age, or you don't have a long term plan for the future. Who's to say Leonard's time isn't two years from now and Noah's 4, and so one?
Point being the window is only really limited to what we decide to do with regards to continuing to build for the future. I don't see NO as an "All eggs in one basket" kind of guy.

I'd rather shrimp Hilliary Clinton than root for a team with Blake Griffin on it.

No. I'm not assuming that at all. I just don't believe there's a such thing as a 10 year window.

According to Sportsrageous, brewing talks between the Los Angeles Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings are ongoing to strike a deal that involves six players. The trade scenario is suggesting that the Clippers will send Blake Griffin to the Trail Blazers, in exchange for Rudy Gay, Allen Crabbe, Myers Leonard, and a 2018 pick, while the Kings will acquire Noah Vonleh.

Boogie and John Wall to Portland trade rumor.

It appears most of the unrealistic trade rumors are coming out of SportsRageous. My impression of that site, it writes articles about trades for fantasy leagues, not real rumors. Then other sites like the Ecumenical News and the Inquisitr rewrite the articles and leave out the Fantasy part. I maybe wrong about this assumption, so if anyone has better intel on the SportsRageous site, please post.

Here is a sample of a 4 team fantasy trade from SportRageous. It has Boogie and John Wall traded to Portland, with Dame going to the Kings, Vonleh to the Suns, Festus is also traded somewhere.

SportsRageous even says this trade is weird, and calls it a fantasy trade several times. Here is their disclaimer at the end of the article.

"This is just a fantasy trade, however, if teams would take a closer look it is plausible and might work. But regardless if the concerned teams check it, the season is about to start and they might just check it come midseason."

The hubris of these fan written sites cracks me up. They actually think NBA GMs read their shit and use them as a source for trade ideas?

It reminds me of the bullshit article on: 3 Best Destinations for Damian Lillard I ridiculed here, where the article suggested all SAS needs to do to beat the Warriors and Cavs is trade for Lillard, well at least, they might want to seriously think about it.

"I think adding Lillard would put the Spurs over the Cavs, in fact as the best threat to the Warriors right now. This is something the Spurs should really consider thinking about, if they want to seriously contend for a championship this season."

Right, that's going to happen. R.C. Buford and Greg Popovich thank you for your valuable insight.

Blah, blah, blah...

This is a direct quote from the "Sportsrageous" article:

"The Trail Blazers need to bounce back from its disappointing season last year..."

If this dumb ass thinks the Blazers had a disappointing season last year, it just proves that he didn't start following the NBA until last Tuesday. Good job dumb ass, way to know your subject matter.

And again, he closes the article with some totally misplaced sense of hubris that the GMs of the league need to follow his "advice" if not now, then at midseason.

"It would be interesting for teams involved in the said trade to take a look at these situations as they are plausible. However, if the Clippers, Trail Blazers, and Kings are contented with their respective roster then they need not bother to explore any trade till the midseason."

So, he just admitted he made this shit up. He says the "It would be interesting for teams involved in the said trade to take a look at these situations" meaning they haven't actually looked at them yet, which makes his entire article a fabrication.

WAY to much to give up for him....

Never quote Sportsrageous. "Brewing talks between the Los Angeles Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings are ongoing to strike a deal that involves six players". What BS, we cant trade AC or Meyers till December 15th, and that trade doesn't work cap wise for the Clippers, where they receive $43M and only trade Griffin.

Sportsrageous is pure bullshit. A fake, false, fradulant, click-baiting website.
