Crazy thing is the headline says 4 years, but nothing more about that in the article and everything else says 2 way. No one signs a two way player to a four year contract. Is this just more shitty press reporting with a clickbait headline?
Yes.

It's a 2-way contract. They can only be for a maximum of 2-years:

A Two-Way player is signed using Exhibit 1B of the Uniform Player Contract. A Two-Way contract can be for one or two seasons.

Wait. I get it now. Even though he has only played like 10 games prior to joining us, he has been on nba rosters for 4 years. They mean signimg 4 year "vet" Skylar Mayes.

I swear top god reporting is just complete shit on all levels in all environments these days. To call Mayes a 4 year NBA player is laughable at best. I'm sorry.

I was totally thrown off by the lack of clarity.

16 games over 4 years. That title is sooo missleading..... I just assumed he meant contract because there is no way I would cxonsider Mayes a four year player in the NBA...

Hype train is in full swing down in pisstown it seems.

I'm not trying to be confrontational, but this isn't a journalism problem, it's a reading comprehension problem.
As much as you complain about journalism in this country, and I agree with a lot of it, I'd say a bigger issue is readers reading a headline and assuming they've got the whole story. Or misreading a headline.

This post unto itself isn’t really funny……but who it is directed towards just cracks me up. Well played Professor @RR7

Nah I get it. I just didn’t believe the headlines because I thought it was 16 games played. Not started. So four year nba player didn’t make sense to me. Since @Charcoal Filtered cleared that up, I get the title now.

Good to see Skylar Mays getting some run for the Lakers right now.

So we have two more days to hit the 14 player requirement...
