I know this just sounds like me being politically correct, but I kind of feel like saying “young rich black” people don’t like this and that is borderline racist. I’d feel the same if someone said it about young rich whites, I just think it’s stereotyping that places a blanket over a group of people. Anyways this is off-topic, and I’m not calling anyone a racist.

The Blazers win and more talent will come.

I think they would have to be making it to the finals before more talent considered coming here freely, there are a lot of franchises in better locations for young millionaires to go to that are just as good as the Blazers.

Maybe theres worse too, but I understand your point.

I almost was gonna anoint Strippers as the consensus winner haha! No seriously it’s the quote from field of dreams “ build it and they will come”! Maybe as mentioned we do need a ne GM.

Perception

Bad weather
High taxes
In bum fuck Egypt for most players
Not a very large black population
Also rans most every year

Portland is not a huge destination for young black millionaires.
Absolutely.

Money:
Florida and Texas have no income tax. By not signing in one of these states, you're taking a $$$ break. Who wants to lose more $$$ off the top? Note: Canada taxes are particularly heinous.

Weather:
If you're south of a certain laditude, it's in the 70s in February. If I'm a player, I need a good reason to not want to play there

Hip:
Some franchises have a historic appeal: LAL, Boston, Chicago... (not Portland)

Large Media Markets:
Increased opportunities for sponsorship.

"Basketball Reasons":
When was the last time the Blazers made it to the conference title game?

Diverse or Black Population:
Players want to feel "at home" culturally. Can they do that in Portland?

When you think about it logically, the question isn't why wouldn't they come to Portland, it's why would they? And the answer is simple. They want to come to Portland if we completely overpay them (e.g. ET).

You guys need to move the team down here, it's hot as fuck in the summer and we have over 300 days of sunshine, I have to wear shades even during the winter!

Damon talked about this topic.

"There are more attractive places", Damon said. There are uglier ones too. Boston is dank, as racist as any city in America, dirty. LA, except the beach, is over populated, expensive, dirty, dry and smoggy. Hillside is tinder dry, filled with Rattlers. Texas is hot, dusty, and bug filled. New York, congested, over populated, expensive, and pushy. Portland is a beautiful, lush, perfect sized city to raise a family. Denver has 300 days of sunshine a year, but is an awful basketball market. Nobody shows up unless the team is on top. But great place to live and raise a family. These guys are rich. They can go on trips to spend money anytime they want. Only a plane trip away. There are "HOT" women everywhere, including Portland.

What do you do for a living? Do you work for a Steel Supplier? If so, odds are I've purchased from you.
I work for brighton best international. They are a master distributor of fasteners. We are owned by Ta-Chen international. They are a steel supplier.

Right on. I’ve bought Ta-Chen. Well who I buy from supplies it at times anyhow.

Derek Anderson (signed him away from San Antonio)

That's what I can think of off the top of my head.
I think he signed Shawn Kemp as well...could be wrong

How can this City or Team become an elite stomping ground for Free Agents to WANT to come here? I mean what makes Players not consider us as a top destination? ( Weather, too laid back, not big enough Metropolitan )? If Packers can lure Football Players to Green Bay for Pete’s sake, or is the NBA players more vain?

Win!

Players will come here if they have a chance to win a ring.

If we had Golden State's roster Durant would have come here. He didn't go there because he loved San Fran. He went to win rings.
