Why are we even talking tax MLE? We need him and he's worth more than the full MLE.
Because that’s all Portland has to offer

Here’s a question, if we could get love for ML/Hark/Filler would it be worth the gamble? I know his contract sucks and he’s been injured but in a wide open WC next year would it be worth the risk?

yes....it would be worth it...he'd instantly be the best passer and offensive rebounder ….money on the corner 3......next to Nurk you've got a contender with Love instead of Chief....I'm assuming he's in game shape and not hobbled by some lingering issues...he does have other issues that can be managed with anti depressants...I can forsee Kevin Love coming home to Portland, falling in love with Stotts system and the team and having a career year....I'd welcome him. He would not be the direction I'd go personally because of cost and his age and wear and tear. That might not be a factor....I sure don't want another Festus Ezeli going into this seasonHere’s a question, if we could get love for ML/Hark/Filler would it be worth the gamble? Someone said Enes implied in an interview he's resign if Portland can clear cap to make him a reasonable offer.I'm lobbying for Enes to give us the KMart blue light special price for a year with an option
This is what I heard and now we just need slick Neil to define "reasoanable" for Enes. We have two expirings that could help clear cap I thinkSomeone said Enes implied in an interview he's resign if Portland can clear cap to make him a reasonable offer.
Oh. LOLBecause that’s all Portland has to offer
Yeah let's do thatunless we free cap space via trades
I think I might be okay with that if it was just Harkless and Leonard. Anything else is too much. Here’s a question, if we could get love for ML/Hark/Filler would it be worth the gamble? I know his contract sucks and he’s been injured but in a wide open WC next year would it be worth the risk?

Unless we do it before the new league $$ takes effect, we'd need to include skal after july 1 to match new salaryI think I might be okay with that if it was just Harkless and Leonard. Anything else is too much.
Yup, as long as the filler isn’t Simons or Little.
I bet Collins is who Cleveland would want as "filler". He Makes the numbers real close. But it would get it done IMO.
It is too much for me.
Yeah, I thought of that when I posted. I deliberately left him off my list of excluded filler. I’d do a deal for Love that includes Zach, but it would have to send a first round pick back to Portland.
With Celtics offering a max contract to Kemba Kanter is more likely to stay if it was just between Blazers,Lakers and Celtics as the report suggested.
A first round pick from them would be nice but doubtful from their end as they are in a rebuild stage.
I think we really need Collins right now with Nurk out. He may not be as good of a shooter or rebounder as Love but he is more versatile.
He prefers to play center but can play PF as well. If the trade somehow gets us the full MLE then I might change my mind, but it won't
Players know how much money is on the market, this offseason is going te be funny
The trade would also save us enough money to enable us to use the big MLE (and sign Hood). Would that alter your opinion?I just wouldn’t attach anything more than a 2nd or Trent form him (on top of Hark or Meyers). He isn’t worth losing a first round pick for.

I have read that we only needed to cut about $2 million (a little more after the Bazemore trade) to qualify. This trade saves about $4.5 million. Maybe what i read is wrong; I know it surprised me.How do we save that much in this trade?

Ukrainefan was talking to GhostofPGA about the suggested Harkless-for-Bjelica deal from earlier in the thread.Love makes about 4-5 million more than the combined salaries of Hark and Meyers..
Nope--check out my post in the "hope for the offseason" thread--it details all the existing salaries, and shows that the full MLE can be accessed with just a small salary reducing trade, assuming Chief is not re-signed.I think we have to get way lower than that to get access to more in the MLE, from what I have been reading. Not sure of the amount, but sounded like we need to cut $15-20M in order to go from $5.7M up to $9M MLE.
I think we are talking about different trades; I was talking about Bjelica for Harkless.Love makes about 4-5 million more than the combined salaries of Hark and Meyers..
