Porzingis

And this is not one of them.

Dame for Porzingas? Are you high?

Who won more championships? Steve Nash or Dirk? Jason Kidd or Tim Duncan?

I really like Dame and he is the better player right now, but the versatile 7'3 guy who is a better 2-way player is more likely to get you that championship.

You also have to take age and contract into account: KP is on a rookie contract, younger, and his later years would probably be better as well.

KP is probably a top 10 player in the league in terms of value. I don't have to be high in order to suggest that a GM is thinking about getting that player.

For a normal, non-idiot-led team, Porzingis would be untouchable. While he's not there yet, he has the potential to be Nowitzki on offense and DeAndre Jordan on defense (I'm not using Jordan as shorthand for "DPotY-caliber" because I don't think Jordan is that). That's an incredibly valuable quantity, much more valuable than either Lillard or McCollum. If I could get Porzingis for either guy, I'd do it, though I'd be sad to see Lillard go considering his commitment to Portland thus far.

I avoided quoting win shares for exactly that reason. I don't think Turner would be a much better defender or shooter had he simply played on better teams.

I focused on PER because most of the other stats were basic production stats, which PER already factors in. Assist Rate was a point in Turner's favor but I stipulated that at the beginning of my response to you.

As for the minutes Green plays, that can be directly attributed to the team he plays for. The Spurs are one of the deepest teams in the league and Popovich is famous for using all of his depth. Turner played reserve minutes despite the Blazers not being a particularly deep team and badly needing as much defensive presence as possible.

KP drtg is 109. Why would you want him? Because his drtg and ortg are affected by those around him, because he plays on a horrible team. Furthermore, I couldn't disagree more on depth. We are the deepest team in the league at ET's position. Harkless, Aminu, Crabbe, ET all get minutes at the same spot. The Spurs had DG and Manu, a 40 year old.

Straight up you'd have to do it, good points on value. Might be tough to run a team without Dame though.

Olshey there building around Dame and CJ and Nurk so those players is off the table.

I don't actually think Porzingis is a very good defender today. As I said in my post, he has the potential to be a good rim protector and defensive rebounder (ala DeAndre Jordan) but he isn't there yet. Right now, he's only 20 and he makes a lot of mistakes on defense. I think they're correctable mistakes, but it reduces his impact on that end.

And yes, to your larger point, I agree that team around one has some impact. I just didn't think it goes nearly far enough to explain the gulf between Turner and Green in the advanced stats. I also don't think the eye test supports Turner being as good a defender as Green but that, of course, is subjective.

Pretty much the way I feel. I do wonder if Porzingis would fit well next to Nurkic. Isn't he a taller and better version of Jokic? That didn't work so well in Denver. Can you play two big guys at the PF and Center spots in today's NBA and not get run out of the gym by the Warriors and other up-tempo teams?

Yeah, that's a fair question. Offensively, I think it would work. Porzingis would be one more shooter spreading the floor with Nurkic closer to the hoop. But you're right--it would run a risk of not being defensively viable. I'm not sure how "switchy" Porzingis will prove to be. He has good quickness for a big, but I don't know if he has enough to successfully chase a 6'7'' small ball power forward around all game.

Would you accept this package for CJ ?
If you are suggesting that offer isn't enough because that offer wouldn't be enough for CJ, it's a bad analogy. CJ wants to be in Portland; Portland's GM wants CJ to be in Portland. The reason for the Porzingis rumors is that he is disgruntled with his team, and his GM is disgruntled with him. Completely different circumstances.

It isn't a question of getting true value back; it's a question of taking the best offer.

Which of course that offer probably isn't. ;)

I thought about it and i think Philly should trade Embiid for KP.
That trade would be the exact replica of Grant Hill for Ben Wallace.

Exact replica..... how?

Grant Hill and Ben Wallace were free agents, and the only reason why Detroit did it was because Hill had already verbally committed to Orlando, and Wallace had committed to Detroit.

1080 The Fan just reported that Boston has offered #3 and another first rounder to be acquired later for Porzingis. Wow!

Plus a player, according to reports I've seen, though the player was unnamed. I'd assume either Jae Crowder (if Ainge was able to talk the price down) or Jaylen Brown (if Ainge came closer to Jackson's original price).

I hope he goes to Boston and they also get Hayward and they beat the Cavs then the Warriors for the championship.

Woj thinks this may be Phil just punishing KP by putting his name out there. Unless the offer is ridiculous, he's staying put and Phil is just messing with him.

That's totally a thing that Phil would do.

Porzingis should needle Phil right back - call him up and say "You don't have the balls to trade me!" and then hang up. Then when he doesn't get traded he's able to look down his nose at Phil once he returns for training camp. And if he IS traded, he's no longer a Knick! Win/win.
