http://www.clubblazers.com/blazers-discussion/rumor-portland-working-trade-today-t3494.html

Rumor of the hour is that Boston maybe involved as they want Rudy and are willing to give up one of their draft picks for him. It would involve Joel Przybilla & Rudy Fernandez for Rasheed Wallace contract (i.e. retires) and a future 1st round pick. Portland would then send the exception & pick to another team.

Taking it further to what I've been told is that Boston is in the lead because of the future 1st has less restrictions and that Boston is probably 2-3 years away from becoming a lottery team again.

Chicago is offering their own 1st round pick which is less desirable, but Portland is asking for Chicago's rights to Charlotte's 2012 1st round pick.

New York is less desirable of all the three teams involved with New York offering a first round pick in 2014 with a slew of restrictions (making it more like 2017). Now IF New York is offering Anthony Randolph for Rudy & Jeff Pendergraph, then you are talking about a good trade.

Anyway, I was told Boston is the front runner and that it will be a three team deal with Portland getting a young PG back.

$8.65M - Rudy Fernandez & Joel Przybilla to Boston
$7.08M - Rasheed Wallace ($6.32M retiring), Tony Gaffney & 2013 1st round pick to ?
$??.??M - {young PG} to Portland

Very interesting ...

Edit: Dicovery69 is usually pretty good on this stuff (or at least his sources are).

if we could get Randolph for Pendergraph and Rudy I would love Cho! But I would hope Randolph could be used as further enticement for NOLA.

Its always about CP3 isnt it

lol yes it is. If a player of his caliber is even remotely available.. you put the full court press on that team!

Agreed. The difficulty is using that slot to find a PG available. initial thought was to N.O. for Collison and Posey. But, I can't imagine Paul being happy about 3 days later, them dumping Collison to save salary. Conley is an obvious mention, just because he's always mentioned. here was another post:

Running down the list of possible "young PGs" that we knew or I've been told Portland really wants.....

1) Darren Collison
2) Lou Williams
3) Eric Maynor
4) Jrue Holiday

Players I would shrug my shoulders on:
5) Mike Conley
6) Mo Williams
7) Beno Udrich
8) Jose Calderon

Rudy and Joel combined, plus the 125% can net 10.8 back in trade. Wouldn't be all that thrilled with Calderon or Udrih on those lists. Highly doubt Jrue is traded. Maynor is kind of meh.

You can add in slightly more salary(Cunningham or Pendergraph) and if they were strictly looking to dump salary, can get Monta back.

The nice thing about this plan (pick and trade exception) is it gives them a lot of flexibility for working with more teams. Holiday is obviously the most interesting on that list, but I have a hard time seeing that work out.

If they turn Rudy in to a young PG, then I guess that means they don't have much confidence in CP3 working out. If they end up keeping Miller, and get a pick and exception for Rudy, I wouldn't mind seeing them use it for a better backup 4/5. I think we have enough backups for the PG spot, but get nervous about what happens if one of Oden, Joel or Camby goes down (especially with two of the three not ready to play yet).

Let me see if I get this.

A thread is started entitled, "Possible 3 Way". Now I'm thinking that this is gonna be way off topic. Then you suggest "Discovery 69". Now I know this is an off topic thread.

I can't see getting Randolph for so little but if it happens...yay!

It's CP3's world, we're just living in it.

Why did i think this thread would be about BeerBoy and HCP's wife needing a 3rd volunteer...

yep basically true... if only there was that damned "Trade Override" like on NBA 2K10!

How do we know the pick isn't sweetener in a CP3 deal? Especially if we also pick up Sheed. Immediate relief + Picks, that sounds like what NOH craves.

Just imagine this in two trades with picks and cash going to NOH.

I still think Paul gets traded. I think the smoke screen is all about getting more value.

Here is what I am looking at. If we send Joel out in order to get Rasheeds expiring contract back, is that because the team we want to deal with wants salary cap relief now, rather than when Joel's contract ends? Otherwise, why include Joel in the deal?

Just makes me wonder what team with a youngish PG would be looking to clear salary. Detroit's looking to be sold. Doubt they'd move Stuckey with somoene else just to shed salary, though. If we added in Pendy or Cunningham, I believe the salary would fit for Ellis as I already mentioned. Would there be any interest in Jeff teague from Atlanta, possibly pairing with a contract they want to move? marvin Williams? Lou Williams was mentioned. Not at all excited about him. Maybe paired with Thaddeus, though, as a backup 3/4. Wouldn't really want Calderon.

Yes, I would assume the other team would want the immediate relief if he retires. Who knows.

Stucky is just Bayless with more playing time.

Agreed; all those PR statements really said was "You'll have to go through us to get to Paul... please increase the quality of your offers."
