Nachbar Leads Nets Past Sixers in OT - Dan Gelston - AP
Preseason Opener: Nachbar's Night - Al Iannazzone - In the 'Zzone
Nets 91, Sixers 90 (OT) - Dave D'Alessandro - Nets Blast
Nets Edge Sixers in Overtime - Matt McQueeny - New Jersey Nets

I'd love to hear post-game thoughts in this thread. I looked over and read all four recaps, and checked out the box score a few times...and here's what I got from them:</p>
The Nets, without Kidd, VC, RJ, Krstic, Marcus, and Sean. The Sixers, without Korver and Dalembert. Just to get that out of the way.
Disappointed Sean Williams didn't play. Glad the big 4 didn't play, they didn't need to, yet.
Of course, Boki was extremely impressive. Knocking down clutch 3's, getting to the line, getting into the paint with Smith down there. Extremely impressive from him, I can't wait to see what he brings to the actual season.
Wright shot alot. He wasn't afraid to shoot. While he didn't make a good percentage (33%), he did make a clutch 3 pointer, which is impressive from him.</p>
Darrell Armstrong didn't defend too great. Personally, I couldn't give a shit, I figure he doesn't give a shit either...it's just the preseason, and he's a vet.</p>
Other than Louis Williams, another guy on the Sixers to talk about was Jason Smith, a guy every Nets fan should recall as being a possible draft choice. He got 11 points, 4 reb, 4 blocks. 1 block was on Wright, of course, 1 was on Hite, 1 was on Benson(BOOM got that BLOCKED), and not sure about the last block. Hit a clutch jumper....I'd still rather have Williams, and am happy with him and Boone.</p>
Boone was already covered in another thread, so let me just say, his performance was great. I can't wait to see his post defense game, but I'm happy with that 13 points, 11 rebounds. He's still gotta work on free throws, tho.</p>
More on Boki, I just want to quote Dave D., I love what he wrote about him...says alot:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>First of all, Boki Nachbar was brilliant - jumpers early, bat-outta-hell drives late. With VC/RJ/Kidd watching from home, Boki was the go-to guy for the night - 35 points (10-for-22, 12-for-14), and he carried them early and late - but especially late.</p>
His best emerged after they had fallen into a 75-72 hole with a minute left in regulation. His response: He drew a charge on Thaddeus Young to get the ball back (Antoine Wright hits a pair of free throws after a nice pump-fake-drive), and two trips later, Boki drives the lane and scores with the left hand to get them within 77-76 with 12.3 ticks left. Louis Williams, who had his way with Darrell Armstrong in the last six minutes, hit one of two at the line, and the Nets went to Boki again. This time, side handoff from D.A., open paint, uncontested drive, and a slam to force overtime.</p>
Then he dominated the OT - two huge 3's, drives and whistles, game-winning free throws with 8.8 ticks left after taking it hard over rookie Jason Smith, who had blocked four shots earlier.</div>Shows alot from Wright and Boki, I'm so glad they got the chance to make a big impact in a game already, even if it was preseason. It's great to see how they handled different situations: Boki, having enough poise to take the charge. Antoine, who got enough balls to actually take the ball and drive to the rim to get fouled for free throws. Bokie again, who drives in the lane multiple times....and hitting clutch 3's.</p>
</p>
Another quote from Dave D.'s article:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"It was a great experience," L-Frank said. "A big focal point of what we've done is end-game execution, poise, discipline. Our guys kept their poise, understood time-score-situation. There were a lot of good things that happened. Obviously the start was tremendous. And the guys who finished the game played a lot of consecutive minutes and fought their tails off. So there were a lot of positive lessons learned tonight."</div>....I thought this was important, because end-game execution, poise, and discipline was actually a really big problem for us last year. It's great to see Frank kept that in mind, and is trying to get the team to improve on that. Appearantly, some of what they worked on is working.</p>
</p>
and Mile Ilic...blah. The only player not to play. He should just go home.</p>
