Hasn't even been sworn in and he is trying to get out of doing anything he was mandated to do.
I'm kind of surprised it took him this long ... or that he even bothered acknowledging it anyway.
Surprised a bit he acknowledged it too.
Trying to set up the disappointnent now.
Between him and Elon we have been promised a pretty shitty upcoming four years. No help with inflation...which will get worse not better and cuts to social security and everything else. What was it Elon said? Get ready for more hardship?
Yeah, this is going to be a shit show
Not really.
One allows the company to do whatever they want with their tax savings (inflate their ceo salaries and continue to throw fire on income inequality). The other is more like a if you do this you can get a credit. Trying to get the US creating their own chips and not relying on Taiwan as much is obviously a good thing.
Yeah, well Intel is in their death throws. They just fired their CEO who was actually pushing them in the correct direction after decades of mismanagement. Now it's the board running things and they just want their payday. You do realize the the TSMC is a Taiwan company correct.
Intel is the only US company that manufactures a large amount of chips, and they have struggled mightily for the last 8 years or so.
The inflate their ceo salaries argument is useless, the amount of money we are talking about does not get moved a the CEO salary. Do you know how much a new fab costs to start up.
Went from "We're going to make America great again. You won't believe how great we're going to make it" to "We're asking you to be patient and understanding with us (but not anyone else), as things might get a lot tougher than they have been and I really don't know if we'll be able to get out with you in one piece."
Tempering expectations 10 years after they starting running on a lot of these issues.
The CEO thing was an example bro. A tax credit is generally used as enticement for the greater good. You are acting like a tax break and trusting a corporation to do the right thing with the money that will help us is the same as a tax credit.

Actually my first main point was that everything with a microchip will not double in the next 4 years.Yeah. He's going off on a secret sidequest into the weeds now to avoid having to discuss how his main point was inaccurate.
The solution to making bitcoin as safe as a bank account is just to make bank accounts as dangerous as bitcoin.Trump is weighing idea of abolishing Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Those wretched government bureaucrats who guarantee your bank deposits will be there.

The CHIP ACT acknowledgement as a good thing just shows that I can agree with somethings that this admin does. It is very few I agree with, but there are some.
Care to debate how EVERYTHING that uses a microchip will double in price or more, which again was my first point.
Did anyone actually say double in price?
So many spare parts for machines are made in Canada and Mexico and Taiwan.....get ready for auto repairs to skyrocket! Also anything that has a microchip in it will probably double in price if not more.
OK...My post about tech imports doubling in price is just solid speculation based on what happened when the pandemic happened globally with price gouging etc....if you think overseas tech giants are going to maintain cheap prices for anything containing microchips, you are welcome to invest in their stocks. We'll see who's right when those threatened import taxes are implemented but as of now, they are not implemented so it's your speculation vs mine. You are more than welcome to argue my point. My wife had a career in Taiwanese import export business for years and we follow the Taiwan news daily ...I'm sure you have more of a pulse on the tech industry than we do eh? Good luck with your choices. The computer chip for your vehicle will go way up in price whether you find it cheap today or not. My mechanic thinks they're already way overpriced as it is. I don't know where you source them ever being "cheap" but you seem to have what I'd call unwarranted confidence in Trump's isolationist tax policy threat and I think it's a train wreck about to happen. For the record, my speculation was not intended to fish for an argument..thankfully Pelosi has been lobbying the Taiwanese chip industry to make the US it's #1 trade partner for decades. Something she should get a lot of credit for and Joe has taken it to the next step with joint manufacturing plans. What Trump plans is not conducive to cooperation with overseas tech manufacturers.Still waiting to hear how a very inexpensive microchip is going to double the price or more of a refridgerature, microwave, or coffee machine
I didDid anyone actually say double in price?
Thank you.I did

What you said was everything was going to double in price if it had a microchip in it. I was pointing out that that is not true.
It is fear mongering whcih is what so many people do on this board.
Car chips and advanced chips are not cheap, but a huge percentage of chips are simple and not very expensive, and are not the main driver of the price of the product.
Yes it sounds like your wife has a great grasp on the Taiwan export business, not doubting that, i also have 34 years in chip manufacturing business.

and this is sensationalized labeling ...I hardly instill fear in anyone on a Blazer forum but hey..one never knows I guess. I did make the dreaded blanket statement so guilty as charged. As I said, we'll see how prices change with tariffs if anything actually comes from it or if it's just a veiled threat by Trump for the sake of bluster. The Taiwanese media is not apparently as optimistic as you seem to be about trade relations. Their president did not get an invite to the inauguration though. It is fear mongering

I am afraid of you. The river is swift and deep!
barfo
You literally elected someone BECAUSE of fear mongering. You got played, so don't ever talk about "people on this board" when you got played by a con man and his fear mongering.
The rest of your post is invalidated.
