Potential Houston deal

Where is everyone getting pick 6 for lowry? Most posters have said pick 11 for lowry.

There have been offshoots, mostly by me, sorry, of Lowry and 14 + 16 for 6. I think I am confusing people.

Still, in that scenario it isnt just pick 6 for lowry.

Youre getting 14 and 16 back. A possible duo jones, waiters, sullinger, marshall, moultrie zeller, along with lowry for drummond.

Just like Raymond Felton the year before. Yes, Lowry is an upgrade over our current PG situation. Most posters here (me NOT included) said the same thing about Felton last June. After years of average play, Lowry played like a "near all star" for 38 games. Felton did the same thing (17.1ppg, 9.0 apg, 3.6 rpg) for 54 games in NY before being traded. Both players faded late in the season - Lowry due to illness, Felton due to the trade/diminished roll.

38 games of "near all star" performance isn't enough to even consider giving up the 6th pick in this draft. Will Lowry continue to produce at a "near all star" level, or will he regress to mediocrity? Who knows. I'm not willing to risk the 6th pick to find out.

I'm not a big Lowry fan. I am hoping for Dragic. But, Lowry is no Felton. There have been a bunch of late blooming point guards (Billups, Nash off the top of my head) which I could rattle off stats for to counter your Felton argument. But if you watched Felton and Lowry during their good runs, you can see a sizable (no pun intended!) difference. Lowry created for Houston, Felton was a product of 7 seconds or less. Need more proof? Felton was traded something like 4 times in a few years, Lowry's asking price appears to be a top 10 pick in a deep draft. That tells me Lowry is more coveted than Fatty Felton.

It's really what small market teams have to do to be competitive, but I have been bashed over this enough.

"but its impossible to do so!" :MARIS61:

if there's a will, there's a way. even stat-geek morey has to see his philosophy doesn't work.

Felton was ruined by Nate. Lowry wasn't.

Boob often exaggerates one little fact to cement his case.

As others have said, people are talking about the #6 for Lowry, the 14 and 16. I say that's worth it in this deep of a draft. It's mostly likely Lillard, Drummond, or Waiters for Lowry, and two other prospects who really aren't much worse than the previous three mentioned. I'd do it.

Lowry was traded once, and this offseason could be twice. Felton was traded twice, one of those was to bring back a superstar in Carmelo, hardly something to hold against him as being unwanted.

I can't wait to see the Waiters to Portland fan boys die out.

Looks to me like he provided a lot of hard cold statistics in his "story".

Oh yeah... the cold hard stats of 38 games arbitrarily singled out from a 7 year career in an effort to prove Lowry isn't in the vicinity of average...

If I'd mentioned the #6, you might have a point. Nice try though

Thanks! Good effort on your part too.

Felton has played for 4 different teams since 2010. That number is about to be 5. You're right that he wasn't traded each time, as some of them were teams letting him sign elsewhere via free agency. But he is about to play for this 5th team since 2010...I don't know everything, but that seems pretty telling to me.

Even Nate couldn't force Felton to miss as many shots as he did. Lowry was never in the 7 seconds or less system, and hasn't even had a chance to regress yet, let alone plummet the way Fatty Felton did.

Lowry never averaged more than 25 minutes a game for Memphis. Plus, he was obviously really young then. What did you expect, him to average 20 and 10?

Once again, I'm not even a very big Lowry fan, but I am surprised at how little respect he's getting around here.

A few years ago, I proposed a deal that would have got us Lowry and Elton Brand for Rudy/Joel/Martell, with Iggy going to Houston, and people were flaming the shit out of me, saying that was the worst idea they had ever seen posted on this board. I knew Lowry would end up bein the best player in that hypothetical deal. And based on player values at the time, it probly coulda got done

not picking up on facts/whats happening & throwing out strawman counters proves something else

those 38 games were as a starter where as in Memphis he was a late 1st rounder cutting his teeth. The previous season in Houston was his first as a starter. He really came on the 2nd half of the year posting an overall PER of 16.5... this past season just continued that upward trend.

For the life of me I can't understand the Lowry hate on this board. Probably warranted since so many people seem to think this way?

Same here. He was on all the All-Star snub articles last season after putting up some fantastic numbers. The fact that his team was under the radar hurt him.

The only legit concerns I can think of are character issues that pale in comparison to shady s**t that players like Jason Kidd have done in their past.

Skeptical of unproven guards that don't have sustained success?

I personally like Lowry.
