I've already stated that I think Collins is better than Davis defensively or at least more suited for today's NBA. Offensively he's quoting stats from last year. They haven't even played a real game yet so we have no data to compare Collins growth from last year to this year and how that compares to Davis from last year.

It's fine to not believe in Collins, I get that some people want to see better results and that there is no patience for development anymore. A couple of you are making Ed out to be an All-NBA level player, he's not. He's a decent role player off the bench. Get outta here with this "real wide gap" stuff.
I think there is patience and the blazers are obviously giving him every opportunity to grow but we’re talking about a kid who averaged like 2ppg and played a decent amount of backup minutes. Maybe in two years he averages 10ppg? Good defense and 10ppg, that’s ed Davis like it or not. That’s what you hope he can become if he develops anything even remotely passing for an offensive game (big ol if)... anyone who can only manage to score one bucket per game has a wide gap not just between them and ed but between them and ANY other solid rotation player in the nba.

There are a lot of posters on here who are under the impression Zach is close to some sort of breakthrough. While I really hope that is the case, I don’t think that is based on any sort of reality. It’s based on fandom, which I get, but highly unlikely it ever comes to fruition.

That assumes Collins will become a Sterling Starter, much better than Davis. At present, Collins is much worse than Davis. His Pillar Potential may live only in Olshey's head, along with McCollum's potential to back up Lillard at PG, another figment of Olshey's wandering mind. Should I list Olshey's other misevaluations?

Translation: Olshey pre-decided the future without waiting to see whether it will come true.
Oh, Collins is gonna shine alright. If not this year then next.

I will miss Ed and dearly wish we had kept him.

You should probably look up the actual stats next time. Ed Davis averaged 5.3 points per game last year. Zach Collins average 4.4. Per 36 minutes.......wait for it.....they both averaged the exact same 10.1 points. Your "reality" is a little off.

Ed was a much more efficient scorer though, for a 7footer zachs %’s were so bad. The difference is Ed knew he couldnt shoot and Zach hasnt figured that out yet. Now to be fair his form looks ok, so eventually maybe it’ll start falling. Ed played within his role, and hardly ever took bad shots.

I know, I've already stated several times that the percentages offensively were all in Ed's favor, except of course 3 pointers.
