Preseason Game 4: Nets @ Celtics

Lopez has major game but he needs to understand nba defense more. Man's a big guy thats mobile.

this celtics defense is pretty impressive. They are solid team thats contending for the championship. Nets are a young team thats rebuilding. The difference is obvious. This will be a nice learning experience for the team: Brooks on when to give help and when not to, Yi competiting with KG on rebounds, Harris running the team without Carter. Thats what preseason is all about right? learning.

We're getting nothing out of our SF position or SG though.

Tommy wtvr is pissing me off already.

You can notice the difference really easily just by looking at the physical play of the celtics vs the nets.

WILLIAMS with a throw down from Dooling. 1st time we caught celtics mess up on D. and then we give big baby an open baseline jumper.

Here's a bulletin: other than Yi, Carter and Harris, this team can't shoot. All this stuff about how they went out and got shooters...baloney. They have mediocre shooters.

CDR!! He's making stuff happen. Drove into the lane to make a sweet layup.

Have no idea whats going on but looks like CDR is playing well again

defense is crap and offense is crap. Harris is getting into the aint on picks but not doing much with it... Somethings wrong with the nets D. They're not all on one page or even one chapter on how or when to rotate. It's very frustrating to watch because they're giving up open jumpers and layups or bad mismatches.

Miles just traveled allllll over the floor with no call. At least Frank is doing his best job to coach in the game.

well, isnt that a little over dramatic? Ager is starting, and we don't know what he can contribute. Also, Hassell is playing, and we think he'll probably be inactive barring injuries to the wings. Devin, who is a middle-of-the-road shooter, is 0-4 today. Take them out, and the Nets are shooting nearly 50%.

Also, Hayes--one of the shooters that was acquired--obviously isn't playing.

Finally, one thing that we all agree on is that Carter's presence will leave open shooters, since he'll likely to be doubled, and is the Nets' best passer. Without him, is there any surprise that they are struggling a little bit?

Ryan will be fine, but like any long-range shooter, he'll be a little streaky.

God damn Yi is like 100% with open 20 footer from anywhere on the court.

And he cant rebound for shit.

OMG LOPEZ!! THROW IT DOWN~!!!! .2 seconds left and he tip dunks a harris miss. OMG that was shaq lite.

I am told Anderson can shoot the three...but he has yet to do it in his three preseason games. He is 1 for 9. He is also a rookie.

OH hai, Jason Collins - defense!

I saw him hit one from three feet behind the arc. He'll be fine. I'm more concerned with Simmons. It looks more and more likely that he will be one of the two designated players that "will just suck." Unless and until Hayes and Najera get healthy, that could present a bit of a problem.

Rookie jitters. Also, like I've said before, he has a very flat shot. I've seen college sharp shooters fail in NBA because of that. He'll need to adjust, give it some time.

Ager is still very much on the bubble as to whether he makes the team, although I note that Hodge appears to be out of contention.

remember also that Ryan has some vague shoulder injury that could be affecting his shooting.

i got dish network and am watchign it on free league pass.

And Yi and Lopez have three fouls between them. Of course, the Nets are getting HAMMERED on the boards and the Celtic big men are having their way with them.

The Nets seem to be looking for a small forward and right now, Simmons doesnt seem to be in the games, not getting his shot, Hayes is hurt and neither Ager nor CDR nor Hodge seem ready for different reasons. CDR is a bit too thin, Ager and Hodge simply aren't NBA-caliber.

I am very encouraged by Yi's offense, including his passing, and Lopez's learning curve, but unless they can figure out a way to shore up the 3 (VC?, Yi?), it's going to be tough.
