Through it all, here was the most fatal flaw of Pritchard: He let himself be convinced that ownership would value him on par with McMillan. It isn’t the case. With Vulcan’s offices in Seattle, most executives have a long history and respect for McMillan back to his coaching and playing days with the Sonics. So far, McMillan has been unwilling to sign a contract extension past the 2011 season, but that would likely change with Pritchard out of the picture.

McMillan is a dutiful pro, never interested in intramural politics or fighting battles behind the scenes. He has been around the league a long time, and privately never believed that Pritchard’s DNA showed staying power.

“Kevin was in a constant battle to position himself to get credit away from Nate for whatever success they were eventually going to have there,” one NBA executive friendly with both said. “Nate knows enough not to flap his gums and pound his chest – especially when your team hasn’t even won a playoff series yet. He’s secure in himself, in a way that Pritchard never knew how to be.

“If Kevin just kept his mouth shut, cut out all the arrogance and insecurity, I think he probably would’ve had his extension a long time ago.”

Ok homers... now let me hear that none of these guys know what they are talking about and just hate kpee... sounds like the owner does too!

Who wrote the article? There went any credibility.

LOLOLOL

oh please.... EVERYONES WRONG. Why is half the NBA saying this? Yet guys on the s2 forums know? PLEASE STOP.

I realize that Adam never liked kpee but it sounds like theres many who agree with him.

Clearly something is going down with the good ole kpee. As much as homers wont admit.... its all but certain hes gone.

And maybe something I pointed out 1 year ago... was on the $$$$$. Kpee is not that good. Mixums right and Kpee is gone... a sobering time for homers!

is it bad that I'm more worried about the fact the Paul Allen is taking a "financial stand"?

meh even if you are right. I was a Blazer fan before Pritchard, and will continue to be after Pritchard. Sorry if I'm a homer?

Ah, good ol' MIXUM. You just can't resist sticking the needle into your posts, can you?

I have no idea how much credence to give to Wojnarowski's column. The guy has a history of bashing all things Blazer, but I think some of this sounds fairly believable. I like KP and I think he's a pretty good guy, but it's a cutthroat business and he wouldn't be the first GM to irk ownership by overstepping his bounds. I guess we'll see what happens this summer.

OK if half the nba is saying it, give me a few names that are legitimate. You could be right, but until the source is someone other the gossip bitches, I take it with a grain of salt.

hey i always bashed kpee.... and many of you defended his ass. ive always been consistent about that. hes done.

and i still love the blazers too regardless what happens....but man things have taken a dark turn.... and im telling you houston is coming strong.....and with our schedule.. nothing is a lock with all these distractions and roys awful play.

very bad time.

It's just hard to take you seriously when all you say is "kpee this kpee that".

It's just hard to take you seriously when all you say is "kpee this kpee that".

especially when its included in other threads irrelevant to the topic. "BLAZERS LOSE TYPICALLY! FADING DOWN THE STRETCH. WHERE HAVE I SEEN THIS BEFORE?!?!?!?............................ OH BY THE WAY.... ITS SURE TO BE THE END OF KPEE"

thats cause im being serious... kp is piss. hes not that good.

take away the roy and la deal... which was scouting and hes average.

lots of gms find guys like batum. its not that uncommon. and gain on batum... hes up and down. in big games he doesnt score and his 3 is streaky. not a consistent performer.

+1

*I am going to work with an assumption that this article is reasonably accurate*

Whose side do you want to take?

a. Vulcan? - Who decided to make their financial stand against BRoy...face of the franchise...core of any success we hope to have...where a max deal is a no brainer??

or

b. Pritchard? - Who realized how stupid it was to make the stand against that player and didn't want to have any part of that mistake?

Then, Larry Miller takes a far stronger role and his tough as nails negotiating results in a perfectly valued LA contract. ...ahoy, the seas ahead look choppy indeed!

after watching "broy" the last 2 games.... im beginning to wonder if vulcan was on the $$$$

and um... dont give me he hit the game winner shit... he clearly walked.

youre basing that on 2 gameS?

And this is why you will never be taken seriously as anything other than an irritating prankster on this board.

"He's done." And you base this on the "evidence" of this article and perhaps Canzano's column last week? Get back to us when you have something credible.

How is losing a guy you call "kpee" a "dark turn" in your eyes. Wouldn't the opportunity to get a GM that you think is good be a turn for the better? Just as a note for your future posts, logical consistency is a good thing.

Houston is coming on strong? They're in back of the Blazers by 4.5 games and are 7-3 in their last 10. The Blazers are 8-2 in their last 10. There's not enough season left for the Rockets to have any realistic shot at catching the Blazers. I think you'll need to wait for next season to have another chance for the Blazers not to make the playoffs.

Kevin Pritchard saved this franchise. Vulcan should give him the money he deserves. He's made his fair share of mistakes. But I can't begin to imagine where we would be without him. Pay the man.

and a quote like this is why I should never be suckered into any thread you're taking a major part in...

how is it a dark turn???? easy.

1. Oden is a bust.

2. Roy and LA have regressed this year.

3. Rudy isnt happy and isnt that good anyway.

4. huge mess in front office.

5. even though i hate kpee... getting a new gm shakes up what looks like a stable upcoming franchise. its never a good thing when you have all this turmoil around you.

6. Nate wont commit

7. Allen is sick

8. We are fighting for an 8 seed with a franchise (rockets) who always screw us in the end. im very nervous about our chances.

9. this team has seemed more and more injury prone.

10. camby likely walks for nothing in a month.

Stopped reading there.

I agree AW is a douche, but there is a LOT of smoke around this story from multiple sources...including a primary player (KP's agent)...

Also, FUCK Vulcan at this point if they screw up the Blazers again.

Why do these articles hurt me with their "mcmillan is strongly valued." Just.. one firing.. come on. COME ON!

lol.... everyones wrong.

its like a little kid who steals something and about 10 people saw the kid do it yet the mom (blazer fans) screams "you couldnt have seen this, my boy would never do that and i know it...aha ah its just not true."

like i said before sobering times ahead... sobering

Unfortunately for all involved you won't be around after the last game of the season to talk about it all during the playoffs and summer.

Now that's the true sobering part. Sobering. Sobering.

Sob.

Ering.

You wouldn't be sober if they didn't make the playoffs, would you? You'd be having a party and putting back the jobs in celebration, wouldn't you? I thought we were supposed to be having sobering thoughts, Mixum. Sobering.

I am disappointed at your lack of sober.

Mixum right or wrong, irrelevant. Why hate, he posted an article.
We have bigger problems here. I love what Pritch done with our team and it is said to see him in the middle of this mess. He did made some mistakes and looks like he doesn't have too much good will in the bank. No one came out to put out this fire, PA, Nate, Larry....IMO he is gone. There is way too much bad will between both parties. How come we have not heard from him?

Right or wrong we do not have all the info to give an educated guess. All I know if Paul screw this up again i.e. Adelman/Petrie, Trader Bob and now KP; I'll wait and see and if we are back to mediocrity I am off the wagon. Gave the Blazers 25 years to win one it is about time....

Proof you are nothing but a fucking troll. GTFO

I'm tempted to talk about how you're creating a straw man, but it would be lost on you.

Here's the way I see it...

Problem: KP is complaining that he doesn't make enough money.
Solution: Give KP more money.

It seems pretty simple to me.
