Theres been some mixed debate on this issue so I finally decided to create a poll.

No long live in Portland but I said soccer, because I don't think the NFL would choose Portland as a city next, and baseball as a "sport" is horribly boring.

I said not sure because I don't think this is the time that Portland should be adding a major league sports anything. I would rather see baseball or football than soccer but I dont think any is a smart move for the city unless the mojarity of the funding comes from a private backer.

I've said it a million times ... MLB in Portland will not work because we don't have nearly the corporate support needed. Until someone shows me the 35-50 large corporations in Portland willing to spend six or seven figures annually on sponsorships, corporate seats and/or luxury boxes, I'm not convinced Portland is a financially viable option for MLB. We're a small business and branch-office city.

Whenever I bring this up, nobody ever has a legitimate retort. Seriously, the "I like baseball and it's on TV a lot" argument for why Portland should pursue a MLB team is not prudent.

Soda Pop - Good point about the sponsors. Nike already made a deal with PGE park. If you take a look at all the Nike ads they support Soccer. Nike pushes Soccer. It takes several sponsors to help support MLB salaries. Soccer salaries are cheaper. The world is bigger on international soccer tournaments. I agree too, MLB will take a greater support for it to come here.
