Bottom line was this. Dubinsky was a bad investment at 4 plus million for a third line player. He should have been a top 2nd line guy. However, he's lazy and is unmotivated overall. That can't be disputed with anybody who has a clue on what they are watching. As soon as he got that contract, he went into third line player mode. Why? Only he knows. The Rangers made a great move getting rid of him. Nash has sucked this year because he's playing scared. Yesterday, he looked better. The fact is that Nash won about 12 games last year for this team. Dominated 3rd periods. Dubinsky never has or never will do that.
You don't want to pay your third line players 4 million. Hagelin is a third line player. To me he's a guy you lock up 5 y, 18 million and be happy about it. That's the max I'd go for a third line guy and I think Hagelin is one of the best 3rd line players in the game.
I have incredible confidence in the Rangers to draft defenseman that can play. Not no much with goal scorers. So, if they can trade a guy like Dubinsky for one, it's usually a good move.

Obviously, couldn't disagree more. He's proving to be a solid #2 center, although had to play #1 for most of this year. For all he does, worth the 4 mil He's never been lazy. Someone that plays with his speed, intensity, and physicality could not possibly bring it 100% every game. The body and mind get sore. Problem is you watch the players on your own team every game, so you see the times they don't bring it. Same thing with Cally, Prust, any physical player you can name. If you looked honestly, Dubi played his best and put up a lot of his numbers at the end of each season when needed most. Almost single handedly willed us to our lone playoff win against Washington a few years ago. The next good playoff game Nash plays will be his first. Obviously, Nash has much more offensive talent. Not even close. Talent doesn't necessarily mean better player. Arod>talent than Jetet, but Jeter better player. For me, it was never Nash vs Dubi. Nash is obviously the better player. It was what would the trade do to the team on the whole. Agree with you on Hags.

It was not a Dubai for nash straight up deal. And ill agree that when a player doesn't live up to your expectations he becomes worthless. Guys are never allowed to have an off season. Lets not forget how quickly he went from being jagr's center and point leader to lets play him on wing. If his contract was 3.5 he would still be a ranger.

When we are longing for the days of Dubi, and re-living the Dubi/Nash debate, you know we are struggling as a team and need a trade badly to give us something to focus on...LOL.
only a blind fool would fail to realize that this team would greatly benefit from having a 60pt player with the all-around game and intangibles Dubi brings. Independent of the Nash trade, Dubi is the type of player we could really use.

Only an unbelievable moron would call Dubinsky a 60 point player when he's never done that and has hit 50 points once in 5 full NHL years.

When the Jackets spend 2 first round picks on centers and one on a left wing, it speaks volumes about how long they plan on keeping Dubinsky around.
If Dump was getting all moist calling Stepan a 1st line center b/c he had a good 30gm stretch last year, why can't Dubinsky be called a 60pt player when that's the pace he's playing at this year through 33gms?

Brassard has 21 points in 39 games after a slow start with about 15 min of ice time. Dubinsky has 25 points in 33 games with about 19 minutes of ice time. Dubinsky couldn't make the pass in his dreams to Pouliot that Brassard made yesterday. You need players with significant offense talent on your 1st and 2nd lines. Dubinsky is not a good passer. He's not a good finisher. He's a 3rd line player. He gets way more ice time on Columbus than he would here because they stink. If he was getting 15 minutes of ice time a night, he would be a 40 point scorer. No thanks for 4+ million.
Don't care about Brassard's slow start as an excuse. Those games where he was dogshit still count in the standings. Through 39gms Brassard is at a 44pt pace and has never even put up 50 in his entire career. The guy is not a 2nd line center, very simple. He costs $3.2M and will likely get a raise after this year. Talk about a contract not being worth it.

Has been playing with Atkinson and McKenzie for quite awhile. He and Atkinson were lighting it up for a couple of weeks. Interesting that while he,AA, and Cally formed a really good line for us for a year, he never played on a line with AA last year or this year until 2 games ago. AA banged in the rebound of a Dubi shot while they crashed the net. I don't know what happened last night with the Rangers on and watching football. Only saw the boxscore.
For all his struggles this year and in the playoffs last year if you took Nash off the team and added Dubinsky and Anisimov do you really think this team would be much better? I dont.
I like Dubi and AA, they are good players. Dubi for his production at $4.2m is hardly a bargain though. Does the team miss him? Probably. Are they the missing ingredients? Uh no.
Also, I know Nash sukkkked beyond belief in the playoffs last year but he was VERY good in the regular season. Not just points but he won alot of games with clutch 3rd period goals. I see all of that has been forgotten....If we only had Dubi!

Disappointed with Nash so far but I wouldn't want Dubinsky or Anisimov over him in a million years. Nash destroyed the Kings in game 3 of the season before he got hurt the next game. Those two clowns couldn't dream of doing that.

I am very disappointed in Nash but concussions are strange. And at least his ceiling is ridiculous. Doesnt mean he will reach it but we know the ceilings of Dubi and AA. I still like them as players and wish we could have all 3 fwds. But agree they are replaceable, maybe not by our morrrron GM though

I'm not ready to say he replaced AA and Dubi with Miller and Pouliot yet. Miller has a long way to go. Pouliot needs to continue his play. However, I don't believe we will see a difference down the line. I really hope Pouliot plays strong the rest of the year, they sign him to a 2 year deal. The team really needs him to play like this. It gives us a freakin third line.
