Author of Project 2025 said Hungary under Orban is the model for a Trump administration in the US.

Over 16 years, Orban changed the Constitution in a way intended to keep him and his party in power in perpetuity. He replaced all judges with his appointees. He took control of 80% of media. He replaced university leaders. Elections were held but so gerrymandered even if opposition got majority of votes they would have small minority in Parliament. Immigration dropped to nearly zero. Minority religions lost civil rights. Gays became criminals.
The plan was for Trump to do the same here.

The result? Poorest country in Europe. Near zero economic growth. Low wages. Health care in shambles. Health care so underfunded people entering hospitals had to bring their own toilet paper. Blocked EU from helping Ukraine.

Orban, his family, and a very small circle of cronies got very rich on graft. You can Google Rachel Maddow's show yesterday for lots of examples.

What was never supposed to happen happened. The whole country kicked him out. His son in law, who became a multimillionaire, fled to the US.

The new prime minister is not a leftist or even a liberal. He's a conservative. But a constitutional conservative. Imagine Trump in power 16 years. Everything he would do. Orban was much more focused than Trump is. So now they elect Mitt Romney.

A lot to start cleaning up.

And Project 2025 trying to figure out how to keep it from happening here.

How many of these talking points come directly from the organizers of Project 25? The stated goal on their website is to get people into administrative positions that support conservative views and the Trump agenda. That's kind of what elections are about.

Contrast this to the way lefty's called for anyone supporting Trump to be fired and to be blacklisted from every working again. The left does things then wrings it's hands at the idea that the right might do the same. Total projection.
