OT Project Hail Mary

Yep. Read the book. Watched it two days ago.

I'm listening to the book. I loved The Martian. I haven't decided if this is as good as The Martian yet. It's good but I'm not sure if it's AS good. I tried to listen to his other book and couldn't make it. Not even close to as good as The Martian or Hail Mary.

Agreed.

I got through Artemis. It wasn't nearly as good as The Martian or Project Hail Mary, but I still enjoyed it.

Read the book and saw the movie. I seem to be in the minority. Neither is nearly as good as the Martian book or movie. There is a "willing suspension of disbelief" in PHM that I just never was able to get to, so parts of it seemed silly to me.

That said, Gosling is always fun to watch, the visuals were great, and watching a positive movie was good too.

I don't think it matters. My kids didn't read or listen to the book and they loved the movie.

I agree that it's not as good as the Martian. Neither the book, or the movie.

However, the Martian is one of my favorite movies. And one of my favorite books.

And to be honest, there was quite a bit in The Martian that relied on "willing suspension of disbelief" as well...

Enjoyed the Martian (book and film - was that Ridley Scott's last good film?), this looks kind of dumb, and then Weir said this and it killed any incentive I had to give him my money:

'Project Hail Mary' Writer Says Hit Film Worked Because He Avoided Woke Political Agendas​

Also I'm kind of sick of Lord and Miller, one of whom is famously a dick and hated by all SFX people who have to work with him. (I must be in the minority of people who think that The Lego Movie is way overrated.)
