He had a lot to do with making govt. a lot bigger.

He had a lot to do with his education bill (no child left behind)

He had a lot to do with spending a vast sum of money on a prescription drug program for medicare without paying for it.

He had a lot to do with cutting taxes on EVERYONE, the rich got a lesser tax cut (%-wise) than the lower brackets did.

If you actually are factual in what you say he did, you might find some agreements.

Bush also had A LOT to do with allowing the low-income loan/redline bans to continue, which created the housing bubble.

That lies of the feet of Bush, Clinton, and both parties, except for a few GOP members like Paul Ryan who were sounding alarm bells as far back as the late '90s.

There are plenty of things to blame on Bush, and IMO, his continued allowing of the housing bubble to keep expanding until it popped is the worst mistake of his presidency.

Agree to disagree.

You can't sugarcoat shit.

You can make it look pretty but it's still shit.

The Bush years were one of the biggest disasters in U.S. history.

I didn't vote for him either time, but I'm not an unhinged hater about President Bush. Please explain the specific policies that support your contention. And describe how his presidency was so much worse than others. My guess is you'll just obsfucate and deflect, however, becuase it's what you feel and not what you think.

OK let's go down the list of things that I know off the top of my head:

The Patriot Act allows a person to be arrested without a warrant and held for as long as the Gov't wants. This Nullifies the 4th amendment.

As does the FISA bill which allows ALL of our phones to be wiretapped WITHOUT a warrant.

Ignored the Geneva Convention and committed war crimes by TORTURING people who are in Guantanamo Bay. Since info garnered form torture cannot be used in a court of law, he left hundreds of prisoners in a place and they cannot be prosecuted.

He received a daily briefing titled "Bin Laden determined to strike inside US" (and was told about Bin Laden from Clinton) MONTHS before it happened and did NOTHING.

Flew Bin Laden's family members OUT of the US on Sept 13th. A day when air traffic was COMPLETELY shut down and even his daddy couldn't fly

Removed troops from Afghanistan and sent them to a country that did nothing to us. This was all based on a LIE.

Don't even get me started about Iraq. My cousin was there. I can thank Obama that he is home now...

Put a HUGE mission accomplished banner and said that major combat operations were over... We were at war there for 8 YEARS after....

Had Osama Bin Laden CORNERED in the Mountains of Tora Bora. When his commanders on the ground asked for a squad to cut off his escape they were DENIED. Because of this Bin Laden escaped.... (let that one sink in)

Passed Medicare part D which was COMPLETELY unpaid for and not even in the budget. This singlehandedly created the doughnut hole.

Passed tax cuts for all Americans. I, as a middle classer get $300 measly dollars a year while millionaires get over $250K. These were also unpaid for and added TRILLIONS to our deficit.

Completely deregulated Wall Street. How did that one turn out? yeah...

At the time he went out of office we were losing 750K jobs per month and the market was trading UNDER 7000.

Put Samuel Alito on the SCOTUS.... HUGE 🤦

Appointed Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General. Gonzales oversaw VERY questionable US attorney dismissals and the NSA's warrantless wiretapping before eventually resigning in disgrace.

Started the Bank Bailouts with a 3 page piece of Legislation. If that wasn't a stick up what is?
"Under our proposal, the Federal government would put up to 700 Bil taxpayer dollars on the line" ~ George W. Bush

Refusing to let Katrina ruin his holiday. Hurricane Katrina hit towards the end of his long summer VACATION. His immediate response was not to view the damage personally, but at five miles high through the window of Air Force One on his way back to Washington. (SHAMEFUL...)

Religiously used a teleprompter (Obama gets smacked for using one) but could BARELY put 2 sentences together (OK I'm exaggerating but still).
"You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test." ~ George W. Bush

Obama gets blamed for 6 Tril of debt under his watch. But the truth is, Bush's wars and Drug plan were NEVER on the books. Obama put them there so now it LOOKS like he has ran up 6 Tril when really it's more like 3.

Now this is just off the top of my head. If I sat and thought and did more research I could find MUCH MORE.

Oh and also:

Underestimating the cost of the war.

Like a contractor's ever-inflating estimates of a home renovation, Bush's original $50-$60 billion price tag on the Iraq war sounds like a steal now.
The current cost is over 800 Billion.

NCLB is a horrible program,

Oh and No Child Left Behind? That was another Unfunded mandate where he basically gave his brother a no bid contract. Neil Bush makes testing materials.
And that program made him hundreds of Millions of dollars.

EVERY child was left behind with this program.

I'll pick a random sample of things you posted and see how they fit reality.

Patriot Act passed the House 357-66, and the Senate 98-1. It was Bush's fault!

FISA was introduced in the Senate in 1977 by Ted kennedy and passed the Democratic Party controlled House and Senate. It was signed into law by James Earl Carter.

Bill Clinton had a shot at getting Bin Laden. The Sudanese offered to hand him over, but Clinton decided it would be best if he were deported to Saudi Arabia. Oops! That's Bush's fault, too.

Deregulated Wall St? He signed Sarbannes-Oxley in 2002, and Dodd-Frank in 2008.

Bin Laden's family allowed to leave? Yep, they left on Sept. 20th, not the 13th as you claim. http://web.archive.org/web/20040529013533/http://www.hillnews.com/news/052604/clarke.aspx

Richard Clarke, who served as President Bush’s chief of counterterrorism, has claimed sole responsibility for approving flights of Saudi Arabian citizens, including members of Osama bin Laden’s family, from the United States immediately after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

In an interview with The Hill yesterday, Clarke said, “I take responsibility for it. I don’t think it was a mistake, and I’d do it again.”

Most of the 26 passengers aboard one flight, which departed from the United States on Sept. 20, 2001, were relatives of Osama bin Laden, whom intelligence officials blamed for the attacks almost immediately after they happened.

The cost of the wars? Obama has spent more per year on the two wars, war on terror, and defense budget than Bush did. And the defense budget was ~$500 - ~$700B over the Bush years, or something on the order of $5T to $7T. It might have been roughly the same without the wars.

http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=125

It is widely understood that funding for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, provided through “emergency” and supplemental appropriations, has contributed to the large increase in defense and security spending.[3] What is less well understood is that a large amount of that increase is the result of extremely rapid growth in regular defense funding that is unrelated to Iraq, Afghanistan, or what the Administration terms the “global war on terror.” Ongoing and routine funding for the Pentagon has increased remarkably since 2001. Even excluding the costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the global war on terror, funding for defense and related programs has grown at an average annual rate of 4.8 percent per year since 2001, after adjusting for inflation — substantially faster than the growth in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Oh yeah, the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 passed the Senate by a 77-23 vote and the House by a 296-133 vote - it was bipartisan.

And lies? See: http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jun/16/opinion/oe-kirchick16

In 2004, the Senate Intelligence Committee unanimously approved a report acknowledging that it "did not find any evidence that administration officials attempted to coerce, influence or pressure analysts to change their judgments." The following year, the bipartisan Robb-Silberman report similarly found "no indication that the intelligence community distorted the evidence regarding Iraq's weapons of mass destruction."

...

In 2003, top Senate Democrats -- not just Rockefeller but also Carl Levin, Clinton, Kerry and others -- sounded just as alarmist. Conveniently, this month's report, titled "Whether Public Statements Regarding Iraq by U.S. Government Officials Were Substantiated by Intelligence Information," includes only statements by the executive branch. Had it scrutinized public statements of Democrats on the Intelligence, Foreign Relations and Armed Services committees -- who have access to the same intelligence information as the president and his chief advisors -- many senators would be unable to distinguish their own words from what they today characterize as warmongering.

Eric Holder has lied to congress and been found in contempt of congress. Blame Bush for that?

I submit he's been every bit a disgrace as Gonzales.

As for the rest? Sour grapes, because your side lost.

So it's okay to aid and abet mass murderers who attempt to overthrow our government as long as you honor the 7 day waiting period? Kinda like gun control? :dunno:

LOL

You're so ridiculous.

Bin Laden's family committed no crimes. But I'm sure you'll accuse them of treason as you do just about anyone else.

You know that we don't put a murderer's family to death because of that person's deed.

The FBI and other intelligence agencies had been watching them for years and they had no problem giving the OK to let them go home.

Lol, the Sudan rejected our request to send Marines in to protect our embassy.

I say we cut off their humanitarian aid.

Lol, the Sudan rejected our request to send Marines in to protect our embassy.

I say we cut off their humanitarian aid.

That won't happen. Maybe we should execute the YouTube guy who it turns out had nothing to do with the video, though.

What you fail to realize it seems is this:

The sitting president signs ALL legislation. It ultimately is HIS decision because HE has VETO Power.

Point blank.

and Dodd-Frank in 2008.

OBAMA PASSED DODD FRANK....

Denny everything you posted is HILARIOUS.

Your fuckin' with a CSPAN watcher here. I saw the WHOLE "contempt of congress" BULLSHIT that your right wing buddies tried to pull.

Again, Your fuckin' with someone who pays attention.

You can't say SHIT about Bin Laden because we know who got him. But your side STILL wants to keep Obama from getting Credit.

You talk about how Obama has spent on War but you know what? MY COUSIN IS HOME FROM IRAQ... 8 years after Bush pulled this shit:

As for the rest? Sour grapes, because your side lost.

No, I'm a Proud Liberal. We won in 2008 and we are going to win in 2012. And mark my words: We will have our 1st Female President in 2016. And She ain't gonna be a RepubliCON.

You and your CRAZY ass party probably will NEVER win the Presidency again. One thing you should know about us Libs is that we don't vote Lock Step like you Cons do. Obama didn't vote for the war.

This is the MAIN reason he beat Hillary. Because he campaigned on ending the Iraq war. He also campaigned on Escalating the Afghanistan War.

See you in November when your Robot Puppet loses in a landslide.

I think it's HILAROUS that you didn't refute not ONE of my charges against Bush.

Bin Laden's family allowed to leave? Yep, they left on Sept. 20th, not the 13th as you claim. http://web.archive.org/web/200405290...04/clarke.aspx

HE ALLOWED THEM TO LEAVE..... WITHOUT QUESTIONING THEM.... Just like he Let Bin Laden go. ^^^ This link also is more bull. It doesn't even work.

is widely understood that funding for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, provided through “emergency” and supplemental appropriations

These were all done when he put his color coded threat level up. Keep the people scared and they will sacrifice their liberties.

And I could really give a shit about that LA times article. They DID lie. Were WMD's ever found? "Mustard gas"? Bush was a goddamn liar and you know it.

FISA was introduced in the Senate in 1977 by Ted kennedy and passed the Democratic Party controlled House and Senate. It was signed into law by James Earl Carter.

You are not telling the truth and you know it. Mr. Disingenuous. Jesus man, you know DAMN WELL That Bush passed the FISA Amendments Act of 2008. THIS ALLOWED the wiretapping. NOT Carter's bill.

Last edited:
Bush passed FISA 2008 on his way out so Obama could use it?

Exactly what crime would you accuse the Bin Laden family of? By law, they could be held for 72 hours. You want to keep them in the country? That would be kidnapping.

LOL

You play so loose with the truth, it is really funny. Like, Carter's FISA DID allow for the wire taps:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_Intelligence_Surveillance_Act

America's Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 ("FISA" Pub.L. 95-511, 92 Stat. 1783, enacted October 25, 1978, 50 U.S.C. ch.36, S. 1566) is an Act of Congress (signed by President Jimmy Carter) which prescribes procedures for the physical and electronic surveillance and collection of "foreign intelligence information" between "foreign powers" and "agents of foreign powers" (which may include American citizens and permanent residents suspected of being engaged in espionage and violating U.S. law on territory under United States control).[1]
To LIE, you have to know what you are saying is untrue. There's you calling Bush a liar, and there's the facts that disagree with you. So you say you don't give a shit about the LA times article which states the facts. I get it.

Have at it. I think Romney may not win, but at some point the people will wake up and elect adults again.

"They hate our YouTubes!!" :MARIS61:

A country needs to stand up for its fundamental principles. First and foremost is our freedom of speech. Our President should promote those values, especially given that he feels he can speak to Muslims like no other President. He should explain why he understands the frustration, we have no limits on our freedom of speech. Our people are free to express whatever they wish, no matter how stupid or intolerant. It's why Muslims are free to say whatever they want in America, which is a freedom that doesn't exist in the Maghreb.

oops.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...icial-says-strike-in-libya-was-terror-attack/

Sufyan Ben Qumu is thought to have been involved and even may have led the attack, Fox News' intelligence sources said. Qumu, a Libyan, was released from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2007 and transferred into Libyan custody on the condition he be kept in jail. His Guantanamo files also show he has ties to the financiers behind the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
