Old Civic was never a very nice stadium, but the prior renovation was a much needed step, and this new addition is pretty damn cool. Happy for all those soccer fans to have a pretty nice place to support their team. It's gonna look pretty cool packed on TV.

The canopy sections going up. Big day today.
Now thats going to be a nice addition and make for a really neat soccer stadium. Thanks to MP and others that made the investment. And thanks to KJIM1 for your sweat on this job. Be sure to inscribe your initials on one of the open beams.

Back in the mid 70's when I was playing baseball at U of P we would play PSU there every year and were allowed to drive down the road outside the right field wall in front of the Mac Club and underneath the stadium where the locker rooms were. It was rather eerie as it was nothing but a bunch of dirt and wood framing and stilts that looked barely capable of holding anything up.

I don't deserve any credit on this job.

Civic Stadium was our high school football home field. It was like playing on green concrete. My parents had season tickets to the Timbers as well. A lot of memories there.
Glad to see them really fixing up the place.
Keep the updates and pictures coming.

That original astro turf was horrible. The hardest thing to get use to was playing so far back at 2nd base because of the speed of the ball rolling on the turf plus it would take strange hops like a rubber coated hardball on cement. I felt like I was playing shortstop because of how long the throw was. That and spitting seeds on the turf just didn't seem right, lol.

I wonder if they'll ever upgrade the other side of the "horse shoe". I.e., the 1st base line side. Those seats are shit.

Mdid you have anything to do with the airport roof when it went up? My company supplied all the steel for that.

We had to knock thru a concrete wall in order to do that job. Later we moved.
The Airport is REFA erection. It was fabricated by Fought Fabrication. Do you work for Fought?

Are you talking about the current Terminal addition going on now?

Bro, you got NO idea. All my friends I work with who love baseball have been giving me shit about this EXACT thing. I told them I'd rather apply for unemployment!!!!!! The HCP ain't got time to replay those 9>7>1 double plays 82 nights a summer!
You have friends? Are they real or imaginary?

I agree. It's always going to have weird dimensions beause it started out as a track stadium and then was converted to baseball and later soccer. But Fenway Park is pretty much the same way. I swear it's like a dump that was turned into a baseball park. But both parks have some of the best crowds in their respective sports. So that's what makes them special.
Multnomah stadium started out as a baseball stadium.

The two of us had a conversation about this a year or so ago. Just thought you might want to see it happening. It's on schedule but the hard part is just starting. They put in the end beds for this side about 4 years ago and as with all things there has been some settling. The footings have settled and there are a few issues with fabrication. I'm sure this will take some overtime before it's all said and done. I got to get the stadium going in Eugene pretty quick. Looking like April so the big stuff better be done by then.

Is there a home field advantage in Kickball? :pokecrap:
Footings are supposed to be on undisturbed earth or compacted ground. Sounds like they either failed to put them in according to code or built it without the benefit of a proper geologic study.

Fought possibly did the install. We procured and bent all the beams first and fabricsted them into the trusses.
Fought cant bend steel, they only fab and install.

We are in the middle if a HUGe Fought job right now. Our yard is stacked as high as we can go with 12” and 22” od 40-60’ long. They will be picking up a couple trucks a day once we get final approval on dwgs and can proceed.
