PS4 and XBox720 games to cost $70 dollars?..

Fuck next gen, season passes, always-on DRM, pre-orders, microtransactions and all the rest of the bullshit that is wrong with modern gaming.

All I do now is wait for games to go on sale on Steam or back games I think will be interesting on Kickstarter.

I think next gen will be a big help to PC gamers. There's too many shitty ports floating around because developers are using seven year old consoles as their main platforms.

All of the other stuff you mentioned...

Yup.

Pachter doesn't know shit. He just guesses like crazy and sometimes gets it right. The games won't cost more at retail, but look for season passes and DLC to get even crazier. Also, there's a rumor that the new Xbox will require you to have a constant internet connection. Developers really want to kill the used game market.

Well the XBox 720 is going to run off of windows.

Used games are meh anyway. They often are not much less than a new copy, only benefit is that you can sell 10 old games and get one free new one. DRM is annoying but with modern day piracy its not surprising that companies want to make a profit especially when they sell the consoles at a loss and expect to make it up with software. alternatively we could all pay $1k for our new system and keep things on the games status quo. One added benefit to DRM that most people dont think about, for PC at least anyway, is that often your game is downloaded so you dont have to keep your copy around. If you loose your copy or scratch the disk you dont have to repurchase it. In the past Ive bought some games 2,3 and 4 times because of that now I just redownload it.

The main issue I have with games is DLC that is available at launch for extra cost, so a game that should be $60 is now $100+ if you want everything it has, and as pointed out by an earlier post the extra DLC is usually crap anyway and its just a sneaky way to get more money out of you. The other issue I had with PS3 was that one of its best features on launch was to be able to load an operating system on it and turn it into a pretty good media PC, they took that feature away because of constant hacking, which killed half the reason I bought it in the first place.

I am looking forward to the PS4 though, but will probably wait awhile for the bugs to work out also. The steam box is interesting however but my laptop rocks the party so doubt Ill need that.

My biggest gripe is with the "consolization" of PC games in general. Mostly games being dumbed down, given console style UIs and riddled with quick-time-events and shit-loads of cutscenes instead of actually focusing on gameplay. It's like Dead Space being changed from a single player survival horror game into a shitty FPS multiplayer game. Don't get me wrong, I like shooters and I played the hell out of Unreal Tournament and UT2004 back in the day, but does everything have to be a fucking FPS now?

I enjoyed Forza more than Gran Turismo.

Although in PS2 days I played the crap outta GT3. I beat every race but the Endurance reces iirc.
