Because the people who voted for Trump would have voted for him with just about any vice president running mate. Nobody likes Pence. If the R politicians vote to convict Trump they face the voters over it. The same reason the D's in swing states said they had to think about.

There's another reason. If Trump were convicted and Pence became President and Pence died before he could get a new VP through the Senate then Pelosi would become President. I'm gonna take a wild guess that Republicans wouldn't like that too much. Of course, then not all the lemons in the world could wipe that grin off my face.

I think we're all going to have to wait to find out what the results are from the next general election to know where things stand.

Yeah, like I said in the other thread, If Trump wanted to investigate the Bidens he didn't need to solicit the Ukraine to do so...he has the resources right here in the US to do that.
