Hip Hop is basically the only music I listen to. But I've realized a lot of the stuff that I listen to isn't really what hip hop is all about. I grew up liking mainstream and what was on the top 10 of 106 and Park, and I never really bothered to listen to good MC's. So I ask you guys, put me on some good hip hop albums please!

36 Chambers - Wu Tang Clan
Ready to Die - B.I.G.
Illmatic - Nas
Doe or Die - AZ
Me Against the World - Tupac
Only Built for Cuban Links - Raekwon
Liquid Swords - GZA

I'll make a list of all the albums I own and post it up for you.

I know everyone's going to say Ready To Die and Illmatic, so I'll ignore those two. Never really listened to either of them fully, but whatever.
From my PERSONAL preference (meaning these might not be consensus classics)

2Pac- Makaveli- The 7 Day Theory
2Pac- Until The End of Time
2Pac- Me Against The World
2Pac- All Eyez On Me (depends on which songs you listen to...a handful of them are classics, a handful of them suck ass)
Eminem- Marshall Mathers LP
Eminem- Slim Shady LP
Nas- Stillmatic
Rakim- The 18th Letter
Notorious B.I.G- Life After Death
Jay-Z- The Blueprint 1 (love this album)
Xzibit- 40 Days & 40 Nights
Dr.Dre- Chronic 2001
DMX- It's Dark & Hell Is Hot

That's all for now.

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Method Man - Tical
Method Man - Tical 2000: Judgement Day
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Ghostface - Ironman
Ghostface - Supreme Clientele
GZA - Liquid Swords
Inspectah Deck - Uncontrolled Substance

That should have you covered on the Wu-Tang front.

Come on Chutney give some props to ODB. REturn to the 36 chambers is a sick album in my opinion. ODB's style is different but still enjoyable.

I've recommended most of these hundreds of times before, lol, but anyway, this should keep you busy for a while:

"Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" - Wu Tang Clan
"Moment Of Truth" - Gang Starr
"Liquid Swords" - GZA
"Only Built For Cuban Linx" - Raekwon
"Capital Punishment" - Big Punisher
"The Infamous" - Mobb Deep
"From Where??" - Mad Skillz
"Midnight Marauders" - A Tribe Called Quest
"Stakes Is High" - De La Soul
"Sun Rises In The East" - Jeru The Damaja
"Livin' Proof" - Group Home
"Aquenimi" - OutKast
"Illmatic" - Nas
"It Was Written" - Nas
"Word... Life" - O.C
"Ready To Die" - Notorious B.I.G.
"Black On Both Sides" - Mos Def
"Blah, Blah, Blah" - Blahzay Blahzay
"Realms N Reality" - Cella Dwellas
"Lifestyles Ov Da Poor And Dangerous" - Big L
"The Realness" - Cormega
"Legal Hustle" - Cormega
"Dont Sweat The Technique" - Eric B. & Rakim
"Stress: The Extinction Agenda" - Organized Konfusion
"Internal Affairs" - Pharoahe Monch
"Magnum Force" - Heltah Skeltah
"Thats Them" - Artifacts
"4... 5... 6" - Kool G. Rap
"Keepers Of The Funk" - Lords Of The Underground
"Enta Da Stage" - Black Moon
"D.I.T.C" - D.I.T.C.
"Project F.E.T.U.S" - One.Be.Lo

The Infamous - Mobb Deep
The Chronic - Dr. Dre
2001 - Dr. Dre
Ready To Die - Biggie
Hell On Earth - Mobb Deep
Moment Of Truth - Gang Starr
Reasonable Doubt - Jay-Z
Creepin On Ah Come Up - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Straight Outta Compton - NWA

I'll put some more down later

Midnight Marauders - Tribe
Low End Theory - Tribe
By all Means Necessary - BDP
KRS-One - KRS-One
Black Star - Black Star (one of my favorite albums ever)
Reflection Eternal - Talib (not really old school but meh)
Disposable Arts - Masta Ace (not oldschool but it was pretty good)

I would list more, but NTC has a seriously good list. props man

Just personal preference. I've never been a big ODB fan, but I know a lot of people who like his style. Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version definitely wasn't a bad album.

You buy albums? I thought nobody did that anymore.

I like buying the albums, because I like having the actual case, cd art, etc.....I suggest ebay, or you can find local mom and pop record stores who sell used albums really cheap.

I like buying albums as well, I plan on starting a collection

Try amazon.com. You can buy used CD's from people selling them. It's kind of like ebay except no bidding.

Thanks

I usually listen to the albums first, and if I decide it's worth the 10 bucks or so, then I will go out and buy it. I suggest you giving some of the albums a listen first before going out and copping it. That way you won't be disappointed

^^unless they're off of my list....I only listen to the best...lol

Only ones I buy are the ones ridiculously hard to download. Usually that means albums of older, classic artists or ones with a lot of skits or random songs in it.

I only buy the albums that I really want, but I prefer downloading, not because im cheap, but because I put all my music straight onto the computer anyway, so I'll only use a CD once, so its pretty much a waste of money for me.

I was looking through some of my dads old disks and found

Eric B & Rakim- Let The Rhythm Hit Em
2 Pac- Me Against the World (damn Old School is a tight ass song)

Word, I like Lil Wayne, but I understand why people wouldn't like him. So I definitely need to get on some classics.

I wonder if I should just keep All Eyez On Me sealed

Doesnt matter It's not like a comic book. I can get an all eyez on me cd sealed on amazon.

Why would you want to keep it sealed? How can you listen to it?
