Big news from Blazers locker room Friday: Joel Przybilla says he will return to practice Sunday for the first 45 min of full-contact drills

Wowzers! Great news, with the recent injury to Pendergraph.

ugh I hope he's not rushing back because of Pendy, but if he feels good then so be it

His injury was a lot worse than Greg's. I'm surprised he's even playing this season.

Ya, really good news. Just hope he's not rushing as already been commented. He's a warrior!

Hope it's not to soon! Good luck Joel!

Joel is the man! Maybe this will light a fire under Gregs ass and he will man up!

I think it said that Oden's happy for him. Oden stepped out of tonight's party into the moonlight, to text him a good luck message.

Joel is a warrior. When he got injured last year I figured his career was over. Then when he tore it again in the shower, I thought that it was the nail in the coffin. Now...he's back?!?!?! Great news.

Well, we will see how well he is able to move. I'm glad to hear he's back though. We need him badly.

I'm with you Nate, it's really easy to get excited until you remember the injury (injuries?) he suffered. His game was never predicated on extreme athleticism, but he wasn't a total stiff either.

/fingerscrossed

He had a worse injury than Oden, was injured a week or two after him and re-injured it needing another operation, yet he'll be back before Oden. This isn't making sense to me.

Joel's injury was a lot worse. I don't get this either. Joel is nearing a return and Greg could be out until November/December.

No one is really sure when Oden will be back. But the thing that slowed Oden down was getting Tendentious which really really sucks. I have it in my hands and its not easy to ride yourself of. That being said I'm in no way saying Tendentious is worse then tearing your patella not once but twice, it is apsolutely incrediable that Joel has come back so fast. The guy is a true warrior and I hope him the best. Over the last few years he has slowly become one of my all time favorite blazers, and the way he is handling this injury is just increasing my respect for him.

On Wednesday night I just happened to be listening to 95.5 and Kenny Vance was on. I didn't get to hear the whole show, but Kenny Vance said that he had heard that Greg Oden had done something really stupid and had a setback in his rehab. He didn't elaborate while I was listening. He also said that he had heard that Oden was not the best patient during his rehab and that he needed to mature more. A lot of innuendo, but if true, this might explain why Oden is taking longer to get back to the court than expected.

I said this exact same thing about 2 weeks ago in another thread, but no one payed attention to it. Oden reinjured himself during rehab, but the team was keeping quiet about it. That's why when Cho says he is on pace to get back, he is right. His time line was just pushed back.

Gosh! Kenny Vance and innuendo??? "Innuendi" is Vance's middle name.

That would explain things a bit more; it just never added up that it was taking him this long to come back from a broken bone.

On the plus side it means that Greg doesn't take 4X as long to heal from a broken bone as normal people, but on the negative it does mean he's potentially got one more knee injury that has cost him significant time.

Joel is impressing the fuck out of me. I was one of the nay-sayers who was prognosticating the end of his career, and I am so pleased to be the one who is the idiot overly emotional doomsday fan this time. We still need to see if he is as mobile as before, but big time respect goes out to Joel.

As far as Greg, I have no idea if he re-injured his knee or not, but I am really pulling for this guy. I know that he was playing at near full speed last week, but had a limp running. This could easily be due to patellar tendinitis or continued swelling or a zillion other things, but just knowing that he is out there trusting his legs enough to go at near full speed is also good news. I expect he will be back at full speed within the first 10 games of the season.

Losing Pendy sucked since he was our bu C, but if Joel is returning and stays healthy, then losing Pendy becomes less of an issue, and if Greg comes back soon, then we will be going from thin to stacked in no time.

I just hope beyond hope NO MORE SERIOUS INJURIES!

greg should be ashamed.... but then again you can tell he has no heart

This would have to make Przybilla one of the all time tough guy Blazers. I just hope that he's not rushing it and ends up aggravating an already serious injury. Kudos to him if he comes back functioning.

Easy to me to understand. Joel said he won't be 100% for 2-3 years, but he can go out there 70% or so and help. No one wants Greg out there at less than 100%.

So lemme get this straight....Greg has a "setback" trying to get back for the playoffs, and resets his rehab until now.

Joel wants to rush back, and be less than 100% for years, and you want Greg to follow his lead? Joel's following GREG'S lead, and is ok with playing injured. Great for him. Good attitude and I respect that. But you want to rush Greg back a SECOND time in his rehab in order to feel better about his timeline?

Timelines aren't set in stone. Ish happens.

I suspect the setback came after the season was over, because if Oden really had been trying to come back for the playoffs then he didn't do a very good job of it; he looked like he weighed over 300 pounds in April.

A drunken stumble? That'd be my best guess.
