They have had a million years to make up their mind on Stotts this season. If he's not gone within the weak, I'll seriously question what kind of juice they've been smoking.

Olshey is a harder case. I want him gone, but there are numerous reasons to think he'll still keep his job. Like someone said before, ditching Stotts is his last trump card. "Oh, it wasn't my fault, we had the right talent, we just didn't have the right coach." I think that keeps his job for at least another year. Plus, he's the one in constant contact with ownership, and he can probably sell his vision of having the right team that was used incorrectly.
What kind of juice have you been smoking? Neil hired and stuck by TS. Terry can't be scapegoated without it directly reflecting on Olshey's lack of judgement.

Goodbye Neil! Easy and done... maybe One Life to Live has an opening?

If they are going to make changes, it should be immediately, which means after the playoffs are over for this front office

All of you people hoping Stotts will leave seem to think there's a better coach waiting in the wings. "Anyone's better than Stotts!!!!" Yeah. We'll see.
It’s a lock. Worst coach ever.
If he gets another job in the NBA, guarantee he doesn’t go .500 or better. I’ll get Stotts face tattooed on my chest if he does.

I do not will you mostly agree or disagree, but i will write my opinion about people in Portland:

GM - is not good, no any willings to make this team ring chasers.

Coach - the worst part of the team. This is not coach at all. He will have problems to find job in Europe.

Dame: The only elite player in the team, one way player, but elite in offense.

CJ - Averaged one way player

Powell - averaged two way player.

Roco - Averaged two way player

Nurk - Averaged two way player.

Simmons - can become something in future.

Mello (now) - averaged one way player

Kanter - worst center in the league

DJJ - below averaged one way player.

Play off first round is maximum for this team.

Not a bad analysis. I think coaching and system (over reliance on Dame going nuclear) and a predictable, unimaginative and rigid offense that doesnt take advantage of the players they have, is their 2nd biggest issue, with the first being defense.

Im not dead set against olshey as long as he has a mandate to trade cj

btw, I thought this thread was saying that Jason Quick was being fired from the Athletic

For some reason I read this in a Russian accent.

you’d have a good shot of losing that bet imo, especially if he gets the pacers job (just speculation)

He’s not the worst coach in the league. He can take a team to the playoffs, especially in the East. But once he’s there his weaknesses get exposed.

While I was being a bit hyperbolic, there are a handful of teams he couldn’t fuçk up, and the pacers aren’t one of them.

you will not convince me he isn’t the worst coach in the league. It won’t happen.

I’ve posted for *years* that he gets bailed out by the Incredible shot making of Damian and how it forces defenses to guard him from half court and how it stresses a defense. And he is a supposed “offensive” wizard or whatever the fuck.

my one concession would be that he’d actually have to look at his offense and get creative when he realizes he’s been bailed out all these years by having a god level / game breaking PG. However that would mean he makes adjustments and we know how adverse he is to that.

Or if they pulled a steve nash and surrounded him with an all star supporting cast of coaches.

Imagine if he was the coach of the nets. He would have Durant camped out in the corner while Irving and harden went one on one all game.

also a bit hyperbolic but that’s legitimately how I view him as a coach. No fucking idea how to use more than 2 players.

I saw the title for this thread and thought The Athletic was going to get a new writer for the Blazers beat.
