(Quick) When enemies are friends: Trail Blazers-Raptors matchup has ties that bond

Sounds like it would be a pretty good fit. I've never been a huge fan of DeRozons game but he could definitely be that 3rd scorer we desperately need. And he sounds like a good dude that would put the team first.

I read about the relationship between Davis and Derozan and between Damian and Derozan a couple weeks ago.

I've been wondering if the blazers made a trade for Monroe or even Blake Griffin at the draft if would they still have enough to sign a max player like Derozan?
Possibly but it would depend on who POR sent out in salary with that trade. Most likely we would have to renounce at least Leonard and Henderson in that case and possibly even one other (Crabbe - unlikely or Harkless -slightly more likely - from there)

I remember people saying they've never been a big fan of Henderson's game before he came to Portland.

We need a consistent scorer at either the 4 or the 5. Currently Vonleh/Plumlee are not a threat on offense. The combo of Leonard/Davis is better because Leonard can stretch the floor, but we need that with the starting unit. Vonleh isn't ready yet. He's just not confident enough in his shot.

Nate, sorry bro, but it sure seems like your not able to look into the future at all.

You say Currently. This is true, but does not speak to anything about improvement. Hell no I don't want to move Vonleh for someone better CURRENTLY, because our roster CURRENTLY isn't going to win. Lets let him improve and in two years when we are potential valid contenders, if he hasn't grown and improved, THEN you move him. But if you keep trying to move our potential players, for stars, your going to screw with the chemistry and just bring in more unknowns.

You my friend are far too insistent on trading away young potentials because they Currently aren't stars. This doesn't make sense to me and I don't think it makes sense to most.

Can he play at SF and succeed?
Can Crabbe?

Is friendship (and championship potential) thicker than Mo Money?

Would CJ be content coming off the bench behind Dame/DeRosan? (Gawd our backup lineups would be Hawt.)

Can Vonleh make enough of a leap to make some of you forget about trading him in a get rich quick scheme?

Would he even need to?

Inquiring minds want to know the future.

Dame/DeRosan/Aminu/Vonleh/Plumlee

CJ/Crabbe/Harkless/Davis/Meyers

And Henderson?

DeRozan has said he wants to be in Toronto for his whole career but another first round exit might have both sides looking for new ideas. He is looking for max money in his next contract after taking a bit of a discount deal in his last one ($9.5MM per for four years, fourth year player option). There will be teams looking to sign him but fewer than if he was willing to sign for less than $25MM per which is about what his agent has intimated he's going to demand.

Also, this...

I would be highly intrigued by the possibilities of a roster that replaced Henderson/Leonard with DeRozan, demoting Aminu to backup SF.

Dame/CJ/Derozan/Vonleh/Plumlee
Crabbe/Harkless/Aminu/Davis

I could definitely see good things from that group.

We should certainly get an interview with him at least, maybe even get Dame and Ed to take him around the city.

The article didn't mention that T-Ross is from PDX, too?

Still don't like that starting line-up. At best only two of Aminu/Vonleh/Plumlee should be in a starting line-up.
I'm all for sliding DeRozan in at SF, but not willing to "demote" CJ for DeRozan.
Your not willing to? Good to know you make the decisions.

Derozen and Lillard worked out with GP and GPII this summer, too. Payton has been mentoring them both (Lillard because of Oakland ties, never heard why Derozen), Payton wanted to show GPII what the next level looked like, so they all got together this last summer.

Vonleh is 20 years old, and he doesn't seem to be anywhere near ready to contribute on offense. Our window is right now because Dame and CJ are balling out. Are those two guys supposed to wait patiently for three years for Vonleh to come into his own? I'm not even saying I want to trade Vonleh, but I think we need to add some veteran scoring at the 4 or 5. Having Henderson has helped a ton. The team doesn't have to be all young guys. We have a lot of young guys. A good team will have a solid mixture of youth and veteran talent. The team is already competing, and could finish in the top 5 potentially. Waiting for guys to develop for 2-3 years is not in the cards. Dame is too good and we need more firepower right now.

I could see either C.J. for Blake Griffin or C.J. for KLove rumors heating up again this summer though.

Vonleh will make a jump next year. I'm sure of it. Let these guys grow together.

Yeah, Ive already seen great growth in him and his confidence. I'm fine keeping him and Dame and CJ's years are the next 5, not next two. Long term great teams dont have short windows like that and I highly doubt PA and NO want a short term team.
Nate, sorry, but I think your wrong. I think what your suggesting is reactionary and not thinking long term. Yes they are balling now, and maybe the wont be able to continue it, but history shows that they are only ENTERING their prime and prime last 5-7 years. There is time for them to wait for Vonleh, unless vonleh proves to be a longer project than Meyers.

Where did I say I would trade Vonleh first over Leonard? I don't think Vonleh should be starting. I think we need a veteran power forward who can score. Not everybody on the team needs to be 25. We're the third youngest team in the league. It's good to have some vets mixed in.

If you're derozan, do you think you have a better shot at a ring playing with Lowry, or do you have a better shot playing with Dame and CJ?

Probably better in the East becaus LeBron gets worse every year and there's no Warriors/ Spurs.

Think they need some sort of meltdown like we had with LaMarcus last year for him to consider leaving.
