(Quick) When enemies are friends: Trail Blazers-Raptors matchup has ties that bond

Derozen and Lillard worked out with GP and GPII this summer, too. Payton has been mentoring them both (Lillard because of Oakland ties, never heard why Derozen), Payton wanted to show GPII what the next level looked like, so they all got together this last summer.

So Derozen and GPII to Portland this summer. That gives us a nice 3 man scoring combo and what could be a great back pg. The stars will then align so we can drop Meyers and bring in the REAL Sabas Jr. in the number 11

It'd be interesting to see him on the team, with them being so close would we be able to rock a

Dame/CJ/DeMar/Davis/Plum

lineup, chemistry off court for sure, might translate on-court

D in the front court
O in the back court

Dame/CJ/DeRozan/Monroe/Plumlee

That would be a lot of players who wanted/needed shots to be effective and very little defense.

What if Neil wants to get crazy and has plans to bring in Derozan, move C.J for a big name PF in a multi player trade?

CJ would be the asset that would bring the most and if DeRozan is here, I want him playing SG and not moving him to a different position. That rarely works.

Trade C.J in a multi player deal for Paul George and sign DeMar Derozan!

I like CJ but would be ALL on board with that.

I like what your saying here alot. Now call me crazy but...WHAT IF, Meyers can improve his Center Defense a bit more to no longer be a liability. Resign him and start him at center? I only say this, because he is our best misd range pick and pop big we have currently and I think that would help open the middle more for the three scorers.
There is an odd man out in there for sure though...

They would need a front court player who can play defense, rebound and stretch the floor. Either that or a defensive minded center who dunks everything in sight without needing a lot of shots....like Whiteside. I know some of his metrics on defense aren't great but you can make the number say almost anything.

I'm not really a fan of Monroe, but Neil sure seems to love him.

I'm not either. Middle clogging PF/C who can't stretch the floor or play defense. Does pass well so that's a plus.

There is zero chance CJ will be traded. Some delusional Blazer fans can't seem to let their hate for him die.

I don't think it's hate for most people. I like CJ a lot. I like his game. I like his personality and character. I think he's exactly the kind of guy that you want on your team. With that said, if we were to sign someone like DeRozan, that could potentially make CJ expendable. His value is extremely high, and we might be able to get a very good player at another position of need. If we could get a team like Indy to bite on a deal that sends back George, would you not do it? Obviously it would have to include more than CJ on our end, but I think a lineup that included Dame/DeRozan/PG would be a lot better than Dame/CJ/Aminu.

Pretty much what I was going to say.

I'm not all for trading CJ, but if the right deal came along, why wouldn't you? We need a 3 in the worst way that can create his own shot.

Aminu -tries- to create his own shot... but it usually ends up being for the other team as Aminu turns it over...

I mean, if we sign Kevin Durant, then I'm totally fine with keeping Mr. Christian James McCollum.

Whats better?

Dame/CJ/KD

Dame/Derozen/PG

???

Inquiring minds want to know!

I'd pick CJ over DeRozen (outside shooting)

PG defense is a push over KD offense.

Whats better?

Dame/CJ/KD

Dame/Derozen/PG

That is tough. I might go Dame/DeRoz/PG just because of length and defensive ability on top of how much they would still score. Dame/CJ/KD would score more but not enough to counter the better defense of the other trio.

The other factor that might swing it in favor of Dame/CJ/KD is that we wouldn't have to give up Plumlee or Vonleh or someone else to sweeten the deal for George. So our bench would be deeper.

CJ/PG/Durant may be the best trio.

I obviously wouldn't trade Dame for what he means here. But if I was a new team assembling the three best players for offense/defense that's what I'm going with.

CJ/PG/Durant may be the best trio.

No way man. I would take Dame/PG/Durant over that trio in a heartbeat. Dame is a point guard, and he has shown that he can defer if necessary. I think he would absolutely focus on distributing the ball if we had Durant and George. CJ can play the point, but he's not a point guard. He really is eerily similar to Brandon Roy in a lot of ways.
