CJ sucks
Nurk sucks
ROCO sucks
Time to blow it up

CJ, RoCo at bare min have to be gone. Nurk should too, if they can trade for a C.

And imho, they should do it sooner rather than later. But I don't know if the players available would make any difference, or that the players that would make a difference are even available.

Meanwhile, Wizards not doin bad. And they will be nice team for playoffs too.

I like the facts that Cronin knows that the current roster is exactly the problem, doesn’t have the need or vanity to insist it isn’t, doesn’t have any pet players, and is a really smart guy who knows the CBA inside and out. I also like that he’s essentially auditioning for the permanent GM slot. These things say there’s a chance to start making moves sooner rather than later.

Just throwing out names?

Also, will Cronin have the power to make these types of moves? Or will they be put on hold as Allen and vice chair Bert Kolde look for a permanent general manager? And will they look to a proven commodity like a Danny Ainge? Or will Allen look to be a trail blazer and hire a female, like Boston’s Allison Feaster? Or perhaps an up-and-comer like Brent Barry from San Antonio, Jeff Peterson from Brooklyn, or Michael Winger from the Clippers? Or maybe the play is to placate Lillard and his agent, Aaron Goodwin, by hiring one of his clients like Shareef Abdur-Rahim?

He was very much in the "this is a good roster" camp 2 months ago. Roster hasn't changed since so this would be a total 180.

Quick's writing has always been a ton better than his talent and roster evaluation. He spent several years thinking Meyers Leonard was all-star material. I mean, if you backtrack to when Indiana was shopping Paul George and Portland was offering their three 2017 firsts + any players other than Dame, CJ, and Nurkic, Quick actually said Portland's offer was better than OKC's. Which told me the Blazers offered something like Meyers + Harkless + the three 1st's. That Meyers was included would have been why Quick thought the offer was great...IMO

in fact, IIRC, it was Quick who suggested that Olshey offered Meyers something in the 15M/year range after Leonard's 3rd season. Than the next summer when Olshey re-signed Meyers for 10M/year Quick said it was a real bargain....lol

The thing is, for Terry Stotts, or even Mike D’Antoni, this would be a good roster. High octane offense, minimal effort on defense, play fast and just try to out-score the opposition…this offense is tailored for that. For some reason, Olshey couldn’t see that a defensive-oriented coach like Billups was going to have problems with the same guys.

It's funny: when it actually was the roster, they canned the coach (and 90% of y'alls rejoiced because the "useless" Stotts is gone). Suddenly under Chauncey, half our roster is much worse than under Stotts. So I'm thinking, maybe this coach doesn't know how to use the roster he has? Because he's asking them to do shit that they're not suited to, and (in RoCo's case) not using him for what he's good at. So we're keeping the coach and changing the entire roster to suit him? Hey, maybe we could've done that with the coach who has proved that he could adapt to the roster, coaching a good defensive team when we had one, and an amazing offensive team when we didn't?

Long story short: must be nice to be Chauncey: team gets bounced in the first round - coach's fault. Better roster, worse record - roster's fault.

Chauncey is fucking Portland. But at least he had consent this time!

funny how Dame is having an absolutely abysmal season, but receives no criticism.

its not just his shooting %, his overall effort is garbage. His attitude is appalling to watch, it is simply unbelievable we paid this much money to someone who cares this little.

He spent more time this off season making music videos than rehabbing a core injury. He has more rap albums than second round playoff appearances, but we’re all supposed to pretend he is some Kobe Bryant type talent because he hits a 30 foot three once in the blue.

I would trade Lillard for Simmons straight up. It’s clear he has no intention on bringing this city a championship and is very content to fade into the sunset, getting high/drunk, cheating on his wife, cashing in on corny white lib dorks from Portland buying his shoes/jersey, and collecting interest on the half billion dollars Portland paid him.

He seems more interested in his mediocre rap career than his fading NBA career at this point, and he will probably be hosting the 4 Bar Friday show on BET within a year or two.

congratulations, your first 2 posts are 2 of the dumbest posts ever. Hat trick on the way?

And you would trade for Simmons because i guess you like the attitude he has shown and his hard working character. He also scores less points in 4th quarter than the rap albums Lillard has.

It might be better for that coach, but I think with Damian playing the way he's playing, the team would suffer greatly under those coaches.

And I bet their records would be similar to what Billups is, but instead of 1-10 on the road and 10-3 at home, it'd be something like 8-5 at home and 3-8 on the road.

Having a bad season is different than what CJ, Nurk and Covington are doing

Just imagine.....

You have a business that pays 7 and 8 figure salaries and a manager that coddles the employees and is never critical of their failures. Then you replace him with a new manager - and he immediately uses the "A" word. (accountability) But hey, let's blame the new manager and ignore the obvious possibility that the spoiled rotten employees are sabotaging him.

that's too easy a blame game and it essentially assassinates the character of a lot of Blazers. I seriously doubt that any Blazer, except for possibly RoCo are deliberately trying to poison the well

I'm sorry, but Billups is not without fault here. Obviously, the roster is imbalanced in many areas and flat-out broken in others. That's a given. But, coaching 101 says you have to adapt your schemes and philosophy to the available talent and not be so stubborn you try and jam square pegs in round holes. Billups' defense isn't working and he's not dealing with the defense of Kanter and Melo like Stotts was. I haven't seen any real adjustment to scheme since the season began.

Last season, Portland's historically bad defense was 3.5 points worse than the average defense and 8.9 points worse than the best defense. This season, the Blazer D is 5.3 points worse than the average defense and 13.1 worse than the best defense. For fucksakes...they've actually trotted out a worse defense this season, relative to the rest of the league, than they did last year. Maybe it will get better as the season progresses and Portland possibly gets healthy again. But the fact that the defense actually got worse without Dame & Simons is not a good sign

You have to play with energy running the scheme Chauncey runs. You have to cover more ground. I think he's running the right stuff, but we have guys on this team that aren't fully bought in on the defensive side of the ball. As a coach, if players won't buy into playing the right way, you gotta ship them out. CJ, RoCo, whoever. Would rather try and play the right way, fail, and identify the problems than settle for what we did last year.
