I'm seeing articles titled, "Moon River crooner dies." They assume readers don't know him by name so they don't put the name in the headline. And they assume his only hit was Moon River.
He was a big star forever, since at least the early 50s. I used to watch his show around 1970. Maybe the prettiest singing voice ever.
Back when women routinely got off of crimes, Claudine Longet got 1 month in jail for murdering her live-in lover Spider Sabich, the famous snow skier, shooting him in the groin during an argument. She had just had her only top-10 hit, which I heard on the radio constantly, and he was a big name on ABC's Wide World of Sports, which I watched every weekend. They were both at career peaks, but he was much more famous than her.
