R-Star's A Friggin' Joke

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

I believe the one just before bbf was called FanHome. IIRC, it was Loyalty4Life who led us to bbf.

Huh, I know that me and a bunch of other posters came from ESPN when their forums went to shit in like... 2003? I think. Wow.

Whoa, Oregonlive after a loss is better than that place.

OK, OK...stupid me just couldn't leave there again without sending my love:

The thing is 99.5% of us just wanted to hang out around here and talk Blazers. And, we just wanted to be left alone to do that. Sure, there were some disagreements and fights, BUT, we were family....and still are, for that matter. We just got tired of the nonsensical, heavy-handedness laid down by the seeming power hungry.

R-Star provided his obligatory response:

It doesn't matter what you guys wanted. You have to abide by forum rules, just like everyone else. Just because you're a big group that leaves together doesn't get you guys special leniency to the forum rules.

Anyone who posted something that wasn't over the top Blazer homerism was called a troll, and all you guys would call for that person to be banned.

I for one would comment on how I thought you guys were overrating Travis Outlaw, and I would be met by whinny tirades and disbelief that I wasn't banned for venturing into the Blazers forum.

You guys all get along, that is great and hopefully you are all enjoying your new home, but the majority of us breathed a huge sigh of relief when you guys left, and threw a small party. The Blazers forum was the prima dona's of the website, and we are better off without the distraction.

:dunno:

We all get along like a dysfunctional family. But family is family.:drumroll:

Is it me or is his spelling way worse than it used to be?

Maybe posting on a board where no one else does leads to spelling ability atrophy.

No need. There's nothing there. Anyone who follows the link will just come right back here.

A couple weeks ago, I wanted to look up an old post I made there and couldn't even find the site. I'd deleted my bookmark over a year ago, and got tired of paging through pages of google search results trying to find the correct URL.

In other words, don't worry about them. They aren't serious competition to this forum. In fact, I think you should sticky the link. Five minutes on that wasteland will just reinforce how good we have it here by comparison.

My view is we have nothing to fear. Either we're good enough or we're not.

All we can do is cater to every poster we can. As you pointed out, "It's not the hosting site that makes the forum, it's the poster who participate there."

I wouldn't worry about S2 getting sold, we're not for sale and we won't sell out.

Anyone care to explain the story of the mass exodus from there again? Sorry, too lazy to look it up...

I still think we should migrate back FanHome. It would complete the circle.

I sent PMs to around 25 of posters I enjoyed over there with a link to this site. Unfortunately, one of them was a mod of another one of their forums. D'oh! I was immediately banned for life.

For the most part, though, it's been a trickling effect of defection.

Wow, buttsecks and mass bannings, i can see why you guys left.

Some guys actually came over from O-Live to Fan Home. Anything was a step up from that.

ABM didn't ASK me to come over..........I am crushed. Kind of like the kid brother nobody wants around.:grouphug:

that site is lame now that i think about it...you have to pay money to have your own avatar...how lame is that?

Dude, I'm sorry. I LOVE you, man!

Actually, I think I just looked down some of the previous threads/posts as the basis for my list. I was prety upset, though....and not in my right mind at the time. On second thought, when am I EVER in my right mind?!:crazy:

I actually have more posts over there. I hadn't posted there for 14 months and had to reset the password. I must have been a chatty kathie back then.

As you pointed out, "It's not the hosting site that makes the forum, it's the poster who participate there."
.

True dat. But site management IS important. Sure the hosting is just wallpaper or window dressing if you will, but if those that manage the site run it like Nazis with a bad attitude it can ruin everything.

This community...the one that RStar referred to as "prima donnas" is unique. And its able to sustain and take care of itself.

Denny you have done a fine job of recognizing that and facilitating that. And I am sure everyone here appreciates you for that.

This is the EXACT attitude that has made that site the useless wasteland it has become.

Why the fuck do fans of other teams consider what goes on in the Blazer forum a "distraction"? Nobody forces them to go there. And if they do, and don't like it, they can always leave and go back to their own forum where we won't "distract" them.

So, they all had a little party when they lost their biggest, most active fan base. Good for them. I hope it was BYOB, because that site lost a large percentage of their banner ad revenue when they drove us away.

I swear that's the only internet site I've ever seen that deliberately drives away users - and then celebrates it like it's some sort of victory.

I'm the opposite. In 4.75 years over there, I had 6400 posts (just looked that up). In a little over a year here, 4600.

And everyone of 'em have been shit!

Yes, but the point is, they are more frequent shit now. I'll worry about quality some other time, I'm all about quantity now.

I always thought R-Star was a total tool. I can appreciate other posters out there from different fan bases and with different views (I'm thinking DaRizzle, right now), but others just came off as arrogant jerks. R-Star fit that mold.
