We should try to get Coby Karl too.
Or maybe we should talk about potential trades for Devin Harris.

If the Jazz match, they should go and offer all of their remaining cap space and front load the contract for Sessions. He would make our starting 5 so much better. I just really want a point guard who can get into the lane and drop off to Oden and Aldridge. He would make this team so much better.
it ain't over til its over or da fat lady sings
Perhaps we can start a thread about how much a failure this off-season is?
What does 'da' mean?
Unfortunately, Sessions' contract can't be front loaded due to the Gilbert Arenas provision. Without renouncing Koponen or Freeland, the Blazers have $7.7m in cap space. $7.7m * 5 years = the maximum contract the Blazers can offer Sessions is 5 year $38.5m. That contract would have to start out at $5.5m, so the Bucks are likely to match.
Derek Anderson.
Derek Anderson.
Derek Anderson.
Minstrel! We do not say that name here! He Who Shall Not Be Named will never be mentioned again!
Ahh. So he is saying "it aint over until Derek Anderson fat lady sings."
Makes sense now!
Considering Sessions is an above average point guard with plenty of upside left, due to his age, I don't think Portland can overpay him (considering they're restricted to around $8 million starting salary). He's already a better player than Turkoglu, is on the way up and he plays a position of need.
One reason that I don't think the Blazers have made him an offer is because Milwaukee is almost certain to match. With Utah, it may not have been an entirely hopeless situation, with Milwaukee it does seem to be. I would, however, talk to Milwaukee about a sign & trade.
I saw Sessions play a handful of games last year. He was only good in one of them, but his stats show I probably saw games where he didn't play well. Don't you think his stats might be inflated because Milwaukee is terrible? I worry about picking up players from bad teams who haven't been great for three years.

Doesn't that cut both ways? Who's he assisting? If he can generate so many assists with bad teammates, shouldn't he get 'bout a hundred assists per game with Roy, Aldridge and Oden to pass to?![]()
Not among the teams competing for a ring though. Didn't they all have suprisingly low 3pt %?According to which stats? Last season, Basketball Prospectus found three-point shooting to be one of the most correlated stats to winning.
So we can't put in a huge signing bonus ala' Millsap?Unfortunately, Sessions' contract can't be front loaded due to the Gilbert Arenas provision. Nope. Orlando and Boston, at least, were very good three-point shooting teams. I'm not sure about Cleveland and LA, off-hand.
Boston? Do you mean Denver?
Hmm, possibly.
But as far as the importance of three-point shooting, I was thinking of these two articles:

It seems like three point shooting is fairly correlated with offense efficiency...moreso than pace or offensive rebounding. Of course, correlation doesn't always imply causation, but it is interesting.
That and Outlaw related hence why Blake and Outlaw are in every trade rumorOh, it's important, but looking at the stats it doesn't appear that it is that important. Clicking through stats on basketball reference it's funny to see the Blazers. They are in the top 1/3 in most all categories expcept pace and FTA. Also not in anything defensively excpet rebounding.
It seems like the things we need the most improvement at are all Blake related things?
I think on 82games.com I saw that Portland's PG possition was their worst as well.
