I cannot believe I've seen right wing PATRIOTS that DEFEND the constitution and 'MERICA under any possible sane circumstance defend blocking the fund to these men and women.

Under ZERO financial reality would this be ok. Unless you hate America. Had no idea these guys were part of the "squad." Good to know.

When car insurance became compulsory, millions of people “gained” car insurance also. It doesn’t mean they could afford it, or it was worth the money. It just means millions of people were forced to pay for it under the penalty of law.

I think they were only forced to purchase at least liability.

Apples/oranges.

The trouble with that stat is, they only count to newbies insured. They never deducted the millions of retired senior citizens that lost their insurance by plan. The tax on employers that provided insurance to retirees, mostly by self insured former employers was possible to avoid, simply by ceasing to provide the coverage. Most were eager to comply with the newly legal pathway to escape the financial burden and the tax in one act. Comply with the OCA. Shazam! No Tax, No burden
No one counts these number, but it might be 20 million. This was to be a gift to the Insurance companies to make these people potential consumers of Medicare supplement plans or Advantage plans. No worry that they lost their rightful compensation for services rendered, they now would be force to help pay for the uninsured and those with preexisting conditions. Under handed despicable shit by Obama and his gang.

Ha!
I see the Ladies of the View are in unison, condemning Paul and Lee for not supporting the money for the Firemen without a corresponding cut somewhere else. It appears most of you guys feel just like the Ladies of the View, Do it! It feels good!
Barrow the money!

Geez Feeling run amok, screw the lack of logic.

I applaud Rand Paul and Mike Lee for their courage and tenacity. I think a long list of Banks and Major Corporations that were in those Towers and those near by, owe the Firemen and should pay the tab from their profits over the past 18 years.
That was the duty of the City of New York to manage that task. They totally punted.

I don't think you know that at all, since no one kept count. We don't even know how many corporations stopped providing healthcare for their retirees. No stats were kept.
We do know it was in the millions but how many millions. Hell one company I know of accounts for nearly a million employees and dependents. In my case, my wife lost
her coverage from the company from which I retired. I had already seen the message in the wind with Obama's election. I read the work of Zeke Emanual, and concluded we were fucked. So I transition to the VA which I also more than qualified, so we only had to make up for my wife losing healthcare earned as compensation for 30+ years.

I find it mind boggling that people think this is a good trade, people losing there earn compensations to enable a politician to give healthcare to someone else.
Hell, crap like that is reason to go to war!!!

Why don't you have medicare? You have been eligible for 16 years which is before Obama was in office.

would you rather allow people to drive on the street without insurance? The premiums would have to go up for those people. like myself that have always had all the vehicles along with the boat and jet ski insured. Last think I want is for someone to hit me without insurance and have my insurance company have to pay out of pocket. How do you think the insurance company recovers that cost? Here's a hint, raise your premium or worst case scenario, deny insurance company and then try and find insurance for a reasonable price.

I wasn’t trying to give my opinion on car insurance, I was referencing the reason why the amount of “covered” individuals went up after implementation of Obamacare. It’s because it was mandatory, not because it was necessarily good for people and they wanted it. I know plenty of people who weren’t stoked about paying astronomical prices for garbage insurance. I also know others who weren’t happy about having their tax returns stolen (yes, STOLEN) as punishment for not paying for a sub-par product.

The OCA was a massive abuse of most of the young people and the retired people. Also those that needed purchase insurance and do it on there own.

It was bad news for the people, good news for the wealthy elites in the health insurance industry who literally wrote the bill. People seem to forget who wrote that bill and what their motives might have been.

I pay for the street in front of my house although I find it sub par. Should I not pay for it? If I don't, would the government be correct in punishing me for failure to pay?

I could have been better insurance, it should have been better insurance but Republicans and Democrats in Republican districts refused to allow any other solution. Now, we are faced with making improvements or scrapping it and coming up with something better that meets the needs of the poor.

Your health is more important than the street in front of your house. The taxes you pay should be used to improve your quality of life, and collectively, the lives of others who pay in. In all reality there is ample tax revenue to care for all our health as well as fix our streets and infrastructure. Our politicians in this country on both sides are currently engaging in taxation without representation. The citizens are given a small fraction of the tax revenue to scratch and claw over while the rest is handed over to contractors, bankers and businessmen who, in return, scratch the backs of the politicians. We are being sold down the river and this country will be a banana republic in no time if it continues this way.

It was a Republican plan and it was all that anyone could get passed in the Senate and House. They had no other choice except to do nothing.

He is such a bald face liar. And he does it several times a day.
I just can't figure out how anyone could be so gullible as to vote for that con man.
He's a gangster occupying the White House. I mean, the White House" for God's sake.

Not certain what you're referring to. What is he lying about?

Didn't you read this in the root topic post?
Trump tells 9/11 first responders: 'I was down there also'

Ahh...so you're saying he was never there.

He was in his office phoning into the news to brag about how he had the tallest building in New York again after the twin towers fell. Also a lie. He didn't give a shit about the victims. He didn't say anything about them or offer his thoughts for their families.

Ahh...so you're saying he was never there.

Days later...and not to help, but to do interviews. He should never associate himself with first responders.

Oh, OK.

Nevertheless, he signed the bill.

As an election publicity stunt. Nevertheless, I am glad he signed it. Those people are heroes and deserve that money.
