<{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Nah man, they're just so retarded. They've alienated so much of the school because they selectively fund different protests, rallies, organizations, showing a helluva lot of bias in the process (eg: Israeli Apartheid rallies). Some of those groups are actually in line with what I believe in, but that's not the job of the student union. They should be spending their time, energy, and resources on representing the student body on issues that matter. Instead, they're pretty low on funds for relevant issues, while external organizations like "Always Question" are sucking money out of them to organize meaningless protests.
That video was like the last straw for most people. Forget the fact that they organized the protest with no understanding of the issue at hand (the uni's raising the residence fees of one of our colleges by 20%, which is entirely too much and should be spoken against, but they were forced to do that in the first place because they inherited a $6 mill debt from the previous administration). They just went about it in the most asinine way possible: blocking the university administration from leaving their offices, randomly disturbing rez students to bolster a lackluster turnout, screaming and crying like a bunch of wusses when the security was doing their job (they literally picked them up and moved them aside). Its an embarrassment to students that already have a reputation for being pretentious, spoiled douchebags.
Some time in March, the current union was voted out and replaced with a new, more moderate, leadership. Their response was to organize protests against the "corrupting influences, claim electoral fraud without providing an ounce of evidence, and generally waste time (all the while funding more unsanctioned groups).
You just know some of these retards are going to be politicians in the near future too.... that, or downtown panhandlers.</div>
What a bunch of jerks, screw 'em all.
