Well that's one thing you wouldn't find in the south, a Jewish Community Center... or any Jews for that matter. I remember as a kid the only time I'd see Jews was when my family would take trips back to Detroit. It was a pretty big culture shock actually. In the south, you won't find any Jews, Hispanics, Asians, Indians, or Italians. At least, in the deep south (ie: New Orleans to Little Rock to Memphis to Atlanta).

I know who Slim, Juvie, B.G., Turk, etc. are. That's not exactly an underground scene. No one I know really listens to them though, so why should I support them? You don't understand the concept of nostalgia, and you're what, 16? So what would you know about my experiences with things like clubs, bars, and parties in uptown New Orleans anyway? All I hear at parties is Lil' Wayne. I go to a bar, it's Wayne. I go to a club, it's Wayne. Uptown is nothing but Wayne these days.</div>

Of course they bump nothing but Wayne, cause thats where he's from(Uptown). You go anywhere else, East Bank you'll hear Soulja, westbank a mix of the two, but most of the people who listen to Wayne in the WB are Wiggers.

Exactly. Plus, he was born in New Orleans.

That's like saying "How the **** does Larry Bird associate with anything Indiana?". Really

No he doesn't talk about any of the real stuff that happens down here. he grew up rich all his life, so what would he know about the struggles of the lower and middle class people.

You're kidding me, right? "New Orleans to Little Rock to Memphis to Atlanta" defines borders. It was not only obvious from the get go, and I made it clearer and clearer with every post I made.

To say the deep south is anything else is just uninformed.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>sooo you only listen to a rapper, if you friend listened to them? How 'bout being different no one here listens to Nas or Big Pun that doesn't stop me from listening to them.</div>

Again, you've got to be kidding me. Where the hell did I say I only listen to popular music? In fact, popular music makes up about 1% of all the music I listen to. I said it's played down there, and so when I'm back in Memphis, it sparks nostalgia. It's as simple as that.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>How long have you lived down here? There are parties all the time down here.</div>

I've been in Nawlins for a year. I was raised in Mississippi but living in New Orleans. No shit there's parties all the time. That's what I love about the city. But trust me, the scenes we're involved with have got to be 180 degrees from eachother. Although, there's a few bars in the uptown area that I'll see high school kids at occassionally, which is always fun. We used to go there at the end of this semester just to try to pick up all the HS seniors who were turning 18 lol. Still the point is, I'm usually out 'til the morning six or seven days a week, going to places where high school kids are generally unwelcome, like Tulane/Loyola frat parties, clubs downtown, and bars uptown, while you're in high school. What I see of New Orleans is different than what you see of New Orleans.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Of course they bump nothing but Wayne, cause thats where he's from(Uptown). You go anywhere else, East Bank you'll hear Soulja, westbank a mix of the two, but most of the people who listen to Wayne in the WB are Wiggers.</div>

It's like you misunderstand or selectively read my posts. I know why they play Wayne. He represents New Orleans, he's hot right now, and he makes good dance tracks. I've said that from the start. It's the fact that they play him so much that gives him such a strong tie to New Orleans in my mind, as well as his lyrics repping the city.

So I just went out to grab some lunch and decided I'd try one of those new KFC buffalo snackers or whatever. It was decent, but I thought the name was misleading. It had one of those thick, dark buffalo saucers on it. Maybe it's not right, but whenever I think buffalo sauce, I think of something lighter in both color and consistency.

Will's not that cool, he's got a weird temper. The fighting thing with Greg was crazy and made him look low class.

In other news legal american absinthe sucks ass.</div>

What did I tell you?

Absinthe... man, I've had so many funny nights with that, not really getting drunk, but watching friends visit New Orleans, get excited when they see absinthe available at a bar, and spending upwards of $8 a shot on it. It really doesn't do anything to me, but I have friends who'll order six or seven shots of it, and after every shot, they'll put on this act like it's putting them in another world.

As for the Real World, I'm surprised that any heterosexual males actually watch that show to be honest. It'll take a lot to get me to watch MTV these days, much less their reality tv show marketed to tweeners. I'm sure that comes off a little stiff and elitist, but jesus, the Real World? Wow, my fifteen year old sister acts above it. I guess someone's watching MTV though, because it seems to still be a ratings giant, and all those awful, mindless songs they play keep topping the charts.

I'm not against popular music, dance music, etc. because I like having songs to dance to in the club. Songs like "Glamorous" by Fergie to "Love in this Club" by Usher are fun to dance to, and I hear them played when I'm out all the time. On the other end of the spectrum though, I've never heard anyone play the Pussycat Dolls, Metro Station, or Danity Kane, yet dance songs from groups like that always wind up on the top of the charts and are heavily played on MTV. I can imagine those are the songs that are really influenced by the age 5-15 year old age group though, which makes sense I guess, because I'd assume that most kids in that age would be at a pre-downloading music age.
</div>

I like watching the clowns they put on Real World so I can criticize them. :]

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I'm not gonna lie, this whole Hot Chick Draft thing is creepin' me out a bit.</div>

hawksfan, at parties, you tend to listen to what most people listen to. I know crazy idea, not sitting in the corner listening to your iPod.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Lastly, you know who listens to Lil' Wayne? Everyone in the clubs and everyone at New Orleans. Lil' Wayne is not the most talented rapper, but he's a rapper I associate with my home, all the good times I've had this last year, and all of my friends in New Orleans. That's why I support him, not because I give a damn about the MTV portion of his fanbase or his actual rapping abilities. It's a nostalgia thing.</div>

and I still don't know what the hell you talking about, I've lived in N.O all my life and I can't relate to a single line he said. Except for maybe his earlier music, which probably wasn't even written by him.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I've been in Nawlins for a year. I was raised in Mississippi but living in New Orleans. No shit there's parties all the time. yea you'll see a ton a teenager out there, espically in Bourbon. I'm not the whole going out every weekend type of guy, I go out every now and then. I rather just chill where a bunch of people are at, and get myself in some kind of mess.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I'm usually out 'til the morning six or seven days a week, going to places where high school kids are generally unwelcome, like Tulane/Loyola frat parties, clubs downtown, and bars uptown, while you're in high school. so that's how you relate to Wayne, that isn't real new orleans.

Being hot at this stage in hip-hop isn't a good thing, but anywayz this all depends on what type of lifestyle you living and what you listen to for comfort. You live here to go to school and party(correct me if i'm wrong), and I can see why someone like you would like Wayne cause he makes party track and stuff like that. Some people here see the ugly stuff and live a bad lifestyle, in fact that's the majoriity of the people here live like that. So if you were to ask them who do you relate to they'll say Soulja Slim, B.G etc.
